Throwback to our Formosa1140, a housing project that creates both density and green space, bridging the public private divide in the City of West Hollywood.

This year we had the great pleasure of promoting Brian Adolf to Director of Projects. Since joining LOHA in 2015, Brian has played a key role in a number of prominent projects, bringing pragmatic optimism and insightful solutions to a variety of project types.

Our John R 2660, part of Bedrock Detroit's City Modern neighborhood in Brush Park, Detroit. The development will be stitched into the existing street fabric, serving as a bridge between downtown and midtown, and bringing much-needed housing and amenities to Detroit. We are pleased to announce the elevation of Sinéad Finnerty-Pyne to Director of Marketing and Business Development. Sinéad has been with LOHA since 2016 and is responsible for identifying future projects and collaborations, in addition to leading the firm’s public relations and outreach efforts, and producing exhibitions and publications. Our Sycamore953, is an eight-story creative office building in Hollywood that houses the Sirius XM headquarters. The hybridized program includes offices, retail, and a parking hub, that frees up the ground plane and offers a more vibrant pedestrian experience to the surrounding community. It's an extraordinary honor to have been recognized by The Plan Award 2020 as the Overall Winner in the Completed category for our MLK1101 Supportive Housing Project. Many thanks to our team of collaborators for helping to make this project a great success.

The initial phase of our Esri Campus Center in Riverside is currently under construction. We will be adaptively reusing the first building on the campus, known as ‘Building A’. This single-story structure will be rehabilitated and converted into the Esri Library, which will house the company’s digital and analog archives in addition to research materials.

Our Midnight Mission project is currently under construction in LA's Skid Row Neighborhood. The design of the New Education Center will offer access to technology literacy, job and housing placement services, and self-empowerment for homeless residents in transition. The plan layout creates a flexible program that can be used as either one large gathering space, or as four or more smaller rooms for classes and other more intimate working environments.

LOHA is organizing a two-part conversation on the future of design and community engagement in the public realm. Bringing together a group of architects and community advocates, the conversation will highlight Detroit’s unique perspective, and ask what can be learned from the city’s history of re...silience and community organizing as we attempt to grasp our new social reality. The first panel focuses on community engagement, and will consider how the changes brought about by COVID-19 impact the lives of all citizens and in turn, shape our cities. How can the pandemic be reframed as an opportunity for us to reconsider how we navigate our cities and how they can be adapted to better fit the needs of all? Panelists include; Lauren Hood (Deep Dive Detroit), John George (Motor City Blight Busters), Linda Samuels (Professor of Urban Design, WashU), and Abir Ali (Special Projects Consultant). The second panel will explore the effect of social distancing on the future of design in the public realm. How can outdoor public spaces be reconsidered to accommodate our new spatial and health concerns? What has the pandemic taught us about how we can pragmatically evolve architecture and city planning in a way that embraces our new way of life? Panelists include; Lorcan O’Herlihy, FAIA (Founder, Design Principal, LOHA), Melissa Dittmer, AIA (Chief Design Officer, Bedrock Detroit), and Steven Lewis, FAIA (Principal, ZGF).

Our House Noir project was recently featured in Italian design magazine Abitare.
