URGENT! Beware of Phone Number Scam It has come to our attention that there is a number spoofing scam that has targeted at least one of our clients. A number spoofing scam occurs when a scammer uses specialized software to display a Caller ID in an effort to convince the victim (i.e. our client) that they are who they claim to be. In this case, someone contacted our client claiming to be your attorney, Donald Green. They informed our client that they had information about the...m and that they would go to jail unless they paid a specified amount immediately through a Moneygram service. They then provided our client with the number (844) 878-8763 and demanded they contact that number to speak to a debt collector to resolve their debt. The information that the scammer provided appears to have been available through public sources such as court records. Please be assured that debtor's prison no longer exists in this country and you cannot be thrown in jail for debt. Additionally, we have never and will never demand money be paid to our firm through MoneyGram or any other wiring service. Any amounts that we collect from our clients will be in accordance with a retainer agreement or escrow account contract and will be processed in accordance with those terms. What to do? If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately and contact law enforcement and our offices to report the unlawful and fraudulent contact. Although our number appears on your caller ID from the scammer, that caller ID is false. You will still be able to contact our offices directly if you dial our office number.
