N E W Y E A R , N E W L O O K . Hope everyone had a happy NYE and are excited for 2020! I’ve been wanting to share our trailer flip renovation that we did a few months ago. We bought our trailer on Craigslist a few years ago actually, and had big plans to fix it up soon after. That didn’t happen for quite awhile later, thanks to other priorities and eventually a leaking kitchen faucet which finally kickstarted our project. About to take our out-of-state trip #2 with Breck // our first trip, to Seattle, he was around 2 months. This time, he will be 18 wks! My how time has flown (pun intended, obvi) // we are spending the first half of our trip in Montana with friends (after first visiting my sister), and then driving to Idaho for our family reunion over the weekend. Sounds a little ambitious, but we got this. Right?! . . Things I learned from first trip flying with baby in tow: ...1 wear baby through security (and even until on the plane if you can). You do not need to take baby off through security and you can get liquids for baby through security. 2 try to nurse baby on take off and landing to avoid any ear issues 3 if baby gets fussy during flight, walk the aisle and/or stand in back of plane for a bit 4 order a mimosa or glass of wine for mama and dad because you deserve it! 5 changing tables are above toilet in airplane bathroom, and it’s not so bad. Actually helped to keep baby entertained/busy when not sleeping 6 you can gate check stroller and car seat but try to not bring your nice stroller and/or bring heavy duty carrier bag of your own to avoid damage 7 you can board plane early if you prefer extra time like I did. Or you can send your companion in early to carry bags on while you wait until last call to limit time aboard with baby 8 baby will most likely sleep a good amount on plane. The noise from flying is like a sound machine for them 9 if you’re on a longer flight, look into requesting a bassinet for baby on flight and call airline ahead of time oh ya, call airline ahead of time to add your infant in lap on your ticket. And we did not bring birth cert with us, just had a pic on phone if it really came down to it . . Any other tips for traveling with baby? 3 months with this little guy It’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever done, and yet, by far the best thing. It’s tough and I’m constantly learning like cray, but I know what a privilege it is to be a mom and to a healthy baby. To think this little bundle of joy came after a couple years of trying, followed by 6 failed IUIs and finally 2 rounds of IVF retrievals (and a lot of prayers)... It’s been quite the journey and such a blessing. . . We spent my first mother’s day campin...g with fam in Carpinteria and it was just perfect. Such a dreamy weekend (check out our camping story to get a glimpse)! . . And finally, just want to state the obvious... being a mom is no joke. And sure, I knew that. But now I really know. I just want to hug any mama I see now. Dads, you too. And mamas/daddys-to-be who are trying and possibly struggling like we did, you too. You’re all amazing. You got this.
