Happy #NationalWalkingDay! We hope to see you at Light The Night 2021!
At the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), advocacy is in our blood. We are a vibrant community of researchers, volunteers, philanthropists, advocates, healthcare professionals, and nonprofit leaders. We're celebrating #WorldHealthDay by continuing to bring awareness to fighting Blood Cancer through our extended library of resources. Our podcast, "The Bloodline with LLS," helps to remind you that after a diagnosis comes hope. Listen in as experts and patients guide liste...ners in understanding diagnosis, treatment, and resources available to blood cancer patients. Our webinars library includes interactive telephone and web education programs or access virtual lectures, audio replays, transcripts, and program slides from past programs. Our specific hub for Caregivers & Patients is committed to providing countless information, resources, and support to those affected by blood cancers.

"My name is Lauren, I'm 20 years old and I am a lymphoma survivor. The summer after graduating high school, I began to develop symptoms consisting of a dry cough, a lump under my arm, and shortness of breath. After several tests, I was sent to the emergency room where I received an x-ray and a CT scan. Moments later, my oncologist walked in, pulled up a chair, and told me that I had cancer. Suddenly my life flipped upside down and everything changed. I was forced to cancel co...llege plans for the year and had to watch my friends move into their dorms while I was stuck in my hospital bed. I was diagnosed with primary mediastinal large B cell lymphoma (a rare form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma). I would then start an intense six rounds of chemotherapy. One of the hardest parts of treatment was hair loss - I ended up shaving my head which helped me feel more in control of my situation. Every day I had to draw on eyebrows, glue on eyelashes, and wear wigs just to look normal. This really affected my self-confidence and I didn’t feel like myself for months. Going through cancer was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, both physically and mentally. As a young adult, I was supposed to be starting a new chapter in life. Instead, I was faced with a diagnosis that completely altered my future, sometimes I wondered if I would even have one. On February 6, 2020, I received clear scan results and got to ring the bell! I am now over one year in remission and got accepted into my dream university after having to postpone my first year of college. I continue to advocate and spread awareness for cancer and hope to make a career out of it someday. Through it all, I have learned to trust in God and to be grateful every day that I am alive and healthy." This week is #YoungAdultCancerAwarenessWeek, and we're spreading awareness of blood cancer among this community. Each day, we advocate for young adult survivors like Lauren, working to create a world without blood cancer.

It may be hard to believe, but in 2021, there are STILL some forms of health coverage that discriminate against people who've had cancer. If you've ever been denied coverage because of your pre-existing condition, we want to hear your story. Comment below, message us, or email [email protected].

In honor of National Caregivers Month and Light The Night this weekend, we want to honor and celebrate Kevin and Jaqi, who both made a promise to each other last year to NEVER GIVE UP. Jaqi, Kevin’s caregiver and wife said It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a year since Kevin’s diagnosis. What an emotional week it has been thinking back on everything we’ve gone through as a family and how far we’ve come. Since finding out about Kevin’s rare and aggressive form of lymphoma... and leukemia, we’ve made it a priority to support and give back to @llsusa and their continuous effort to find cures for blood cancer through research. When we heard about their virtual fundraising event, #LightTheNight we knew it was another great opportunity to make a difference. Thank you @jaqi_m_clements for being an incredible caregiver and for giving back to the community!! #NationalCaregiversMonth
