Oh how I my weekly delivery days from Farm Fresh To You! These organic, locally-sourced fruits and vegetables are as fresh as you can get them. Picked from local farms yesterday then boxed up and delivered to my doorstep this morning. There couldn’t be fresher, more nutrient-dense produce ... the only way I could find fresher produce would be if I sat down in the field where it grew and ate it there! ... (By the way, as a girl who grew up on a small farm, I can assure you, I have done that many times) @farmfreshtoyou

After completing my 500-hour yoga teacher training last month, I’ve realized I’ve lost some serious muscle mass. I’ve been spending ALL of my #workout time on my #yoga mat and not a whole lot of time in the gym lifting weights. My conclusion... For optimal health, my body requires both yoga & weights. Yoga is irreplaceable for me. It is healing and #grounding, and has so many health benefits. Yet after the age of 30, we begin to lose muscle mass. Muscle is our fri...end folks! The more muscle we have, the more we can eat Muscles are calorie-burning machines. As we age, if we aren’t lifting weights, fat cells begin to infiltrate the muscle fiber, leading to a softer and weaker (and usually larger) body. The scale may not show that you’ve gained weight (fat weighs less than muscle), but your muscle to fat ratio changes drastically, affecting our metabolism and our waistlines. This becomes a snowball effect, making it more difficult to lose the weight as we age. As a holistic nutrition and health coach, specializing in #healthyaging here is my advice.... No matter what your exercise regiment, after the age of 30, you need to add #weightlifting for #optimalhealth and a #healthyaginglifestyle Me? I’m in the gym Monday, Wednesday & Friday. And on my yoga mat Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday. Life is about balance. #Exercise is no different.

Me pretending like this is how I drink my tea. The real picture looks a bit more like this... In bed, hair up in a sloppy bun, pjs still on, and my eye mask from last night’s sleep pulled up to my forehead. . I drink an entire thermos (4 cups- 32 ounces) before my feet hit the floor. Literally (The truth is, I’m lucky enough to have an amazing husband who makes my tea every morning and brings it to me just as I’m waking up). Nonetheless, I’ve been beginning my mornin...gs with large quantities of #greentea for the past 20 years. Living in Asia (#singapore specifically) in my 30’s got me hooked on the green stuff, and it’s a morning health ritual I’ve continued now into my 50’s. There are SO many health benefits! 1. Green tea is loaded with polyphenol antioxidants, including a catechin called EGCG. These antioxidants can fight free radicals, reduce inflammation, and help fight cancer! 2. Green tea contains slightly less caffeine than coffee but enough to give you that morning pick me up (4 cups will definitely do it! ), yet the caffeine buzz is more steady and less jittery. 3. Green tea may boost metabolic rate and increase metabolism! 4. Green tea contains bioactive compounds that have numerous protective effects on the brain, reducing the risk of dementia. It also contains the amino acid L-theanine, which works synergistically with caffeine to improve overall brain function. 5. Green tea may cause mild reductions in blood sugar levels (which helps to reduce sugar & carb cravings), and also lowers the risk of type 2 diabetes. 6. Green tea may lower LDL (bad cholesterol). Numerous studies show that people who drink green tea on a regular basis have a lower risk of cardiovascular disease. 7. Green tea may lead to increased #weightloss . It may be particularly effective at reducing abdominal fat associated with many chronic diseases. 8. Green tea helps you live longer Don’t believe me, reread numbers 1-7 again So there you have it! My #healthtip for the day. To improve your overall health, lose weight, and reduce your risk of chronic diseases, you may want to make green tea a regular part of your life.

Flashback with the lovely @jessicacanseco who did my semi permanent micro pigmentation of my brows. This was filmed in a segment called Don’t Botch Your Brows on my YouTube channel, Live Young Lifestyle. (Link in bio). If you wanting to fill in, enhance or reshape your brows, and are considering doing #microblading , I suggest that you watch that video. Microblading differs from standard eyebrow tattooing because each hairstroke is created by hand using a blade which crea...tes fine slices in the skin, whereas semipermanent micro pigmentation eyebrow tattoos are done with a machine and single needle bundle. There is some great micro-blading work that’s out there by people who are HIGHLY skilled and have been doing this for a long time. But there are also technicians who are leaving scars and irreparable damage, or creating situations that require multiple treatments to rectify. If you’re a micro-blading technician and you’ve had to correct other people’s work, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. The bottom line is.... You have to do your homework before having this procedure done! You need to see before and after pictures. You need to ask when and where the technician was trained. And if possible, talk to people who have had it done. Ask them questions. Did you have any scarring where their hair stopped growing back? Are they happy with their results? Did it take multiple treatments? (Multiple treatments are common, but not to correct mistakes). Again, this is your face, and your brows are an important part of itDo your homework first. #microbladingeyebrows #eyebrowsonpoint #eyebrows #micbladebrows
