Kindies didn’t have help from their eighth grade buddies for valentine making this year. Missing these moments in today’s celebration of friendship.
Celebrating friendship today acknowledging that these days we’re a little more distant, but not less connected. Looking forward to more lunch dates, walks, games, partner work, and coordinating outfits.
The Class of 2009 participating in service projects throughout their eighth grade year at Live Oak. From park and beach cleanups to letter writing campaign for Darfur, developing a sense of agency is key to service learning. Next week, we’ll spend some time as a school engaging in service projects during our annual Day of Service! #tbt #liveoakschoolsfalumni #lossfalumni

Staying connected to classmates in the Branches program has been made easier with technology. Students engage in partner work that builds writing and reading skills, sharing feedback and comments with each other. It’s also a good time to catch up with a friend!

We’re back! It’s been nice connecting today hearing about breaks and meeting new pups. It’s with this strong sense of community that our students develop the confidence to be curious. And when it’s still forming, it’s okay to ask questions via your cat. We’ll use all the tools to have important conversations about civil rights, leading to our annual day of service in a few weeks.
New York-based artist Kara Walker is best known for her candid investigation of race, gender, and violence through silhouetted figures. Using Walker’s work as inspiration, fifth grade students created silhouette vignettes that told a story.
A look back at how we learned, played, and built friendships the first half of the year! We’ll be ready for more laughter when we return from break on January 4!

Cardboard pop art sculptures inspired by Venezuelan artist Marisol created by sixth grade students! Much of our art curriculum has been reimagined this year to make it accessible to students on campus and those on School From Home. What’s true is that our students continue to explore their artistic identities in creative ways!
Our first author visits were a success! Thank you to all our families who volunteered during our Garden Work Day events. They picked up leaf litter, fertilized fruit trees and shrubs, watered, pruned back vines, and harvested potatoes! Swipe through to see the results of their hard work!
We’re going into the weekend feeling the glow of 10 million golden suns! That expression (coined by a kindergartener) captures the joy we felt seeing our K-2 students back on Mariposa. Thank you to our supportive community for working with us to make this happen!
