One common question we are asked is how is my kid going to take herbs? With the right coaching any child can take herbs but in our experience children who start taking herbs as babies tend to accept the flavors and even like the herbs. We stock powders that are customizable as well as a pediatric line of glycerin-based tinctures that have a sweet taste. Some kids like to be incentivized by following up their herbs with a vitamin gummy or a chocolate chip. Straws or syr...inges can make it easier and fun to administer the herbs. Mixing the herbs with applesauce can work too. Common conditions we prescribe herbs for include: Upper respiratory tract infections, ear infections, eczema, tummy aches, constipation, sleep disturbances and anxiety. Check out our stories today or our highlights. . . . . . . #littlelotuspediatrics #herbs #pediatrics #chineseherbs #chineseherbalmedicine #losangelesacupuncture #highlandpark #hermon #90042 See more

We love this trend of live shows from musicians amidst COVID-19. Here's a great concert from Red Grammer! Very fun and kid-friendly music to put a smile on your littles' faces.

Has your child been diagnosed with ADHD or anxiety? Thanks to @peakbrainla and @vitalheadandspine for bringing brain mapping and neurofeedback to the kids in Los Angeles who can benefit greatly from these modalities who either don’t do well with pharmaceuticals or perhaps have parents who would like to try something with less side effects first. It also works well for OCD, test preparation, PTSD and post-concussion syndrome. Luckily in our area we have @dr.giancarlolicata in ...Pasadena and @andrewhillphd in Culver City. Many applications for adults too. . . . . . . . #littlelotuspediatrics #neurofeedback #EEG #QEEG #peakbrain #vitalheadandspine #andrewhill #cognition #cognitivewellness #brainmapping #ADHD #hyperactivity #anxiety #obsession #testprep #studying #PTSD #cognitivedecline #alzheimers #dementia #substanceabuse See more

A sobering new paper published in JAMA Pediatrics has found that 1 in 5 adolescents between 12 and 18 years of age were found to be prediabetic. This is very serious because these early years will lay down the foundation for their future as adults and what kinds of disease processes they will be susceptible to. We must be more mindful of the types of foods we repeatedly expose our children to and what kind of palates we want them to have. Although it starts in the womb, it is... never too late to make better choices for them and swap out the types of snacks you have available in the cupboard. Be aware of the amounts of white flour and white sugar products you have in your pantry. If you bake, cut out 50% of the sugar. Eliminate sodas and juices. Forego the white bread and try a loaf of @lilsipper paleo bread. Get your kids outside to burn off some energy! . . . . . . . #lotuscenter #pediatrics #diabetes #prediabetic #prediabetes #sugar #sugarhigh #sugaraddiction #epigenetics See more

Do you allow your kids to play with games online where they can interact with other people? This recently caught our attention and it happened to a parent's child despite max privacy settings. https://www.parents.com//mom-is-warning-parents-about-an/ #littlelotuspediatrics #onlinegaming #roblox #kids #videogames

As we near Halloween and consider what kinds of candy to hand out to trick or treaters or bring to work, let’s think about what went into that chocolate. A new Washington Post article discusses the rampant child labor that companies like Hersheys, Ferrero and Mars use but bear in mind the chocolate that these companies use are also known to contain lead and cadmium! There are a lot more organic and natural companies like Yum Earth which make great products but much of it has ...brown rice syrup and we are waiting to hear back from them about arsenic content. Do you have any trick or treat recommendations that we can feel good about that kids (of all ages) will actually enjoy? #littlelotuspediatrics #halloween #trickortreat #childlabor #hershey #nestle #ferrero #mars #cadmium #lead #arsenic #heavymetals #foodsafety #candy #halloweencandy https://www.washingtonpost.com//hershey-nestle-mars-choco/

Childhood trauma is something that hasn't traditionally received as much acknowledgement and treatment as it deserves. Adverse childhood events are finally starting to become recognized and it can start with this. This is such a game changer. Where can we find a prenatal bootcamp for dads around the LA area? Maybe just as important is one for grandparents or older family caretakers. Raising babies isn't the same as it was 20 or 40 something years ago so if you are pregnant and a parent might be helping you after your baby is born, consider finding a grandparent prep class. Understanding generational differences in how to manage a new baby will help keep relationships with your old...er loved ones much smoother. Trust us you will need them for date nights in the future! . . . . . . . #littlelotuspediatrics #babyprep #prenatalclasses #prenatalbootcamp #pregnancy #pregnancyprep #dads #daddyprep #grandparents #newbaby #babyprep See more

Do you have a child who you feel would benefit from our services but is afraid of acupuncture? Irina and Anne at will be offering Sho Ni Shin treatments this next full moon on Saturday, September 14. In Japan? Sho Ni Shin is one of the main healing modalities used for children. Around the full moon, our bodies' meridians are more accessible and it is a great time to support the body. It has an immune boosting effect as well which is perfect for our kids at the start of the ne...w school year and in preparation for the seasonal change. Sho Ni Shin is like a massage along the body’s meridians on the limbs, back and abdomen with small smooth steel or copper tools. Kids generally love it and feel very relaxed afterwards. It is the primer we use on all our young patients before using needles. It is also a stand alone treatment if needles are not possible because the child is too fearful. Appointments are only 15 min long and the cost is $25. Please call the office to schedule! . . . . . . . #littlelotuspediatrics #pediatricacupuncture #acupuncture #shonishin #childrenshealth #kidshealth #wellness #losangelesacupuncture #highlandpark #hermon #90042 See more

Everyone's kids are pretty much back to school, yes? This is the application of indirect moxibustion on Du20 to enhance memory. Not sure if we would necessarily take this particular approach but a combo of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and nutrition are so useful for improving attention and helping with hyperactivity disorders for kids. So if you have a kid who might wiggle a bit too much in class, we've got you covered. . . . .... . . . #littlelotuspediatrics #moxibustion #moxabox #traditionalchinesemedicine #chinesemedicine #acupuncture #adhd #hyperactivity #backtoschool #kids #kidshealth #pediatrics #losangelesacupuncture #highlandpark #hermon #90042 See more
