For bankruptcy lawyers and those of us who handle student loan cases, this bill is THE HOLY GRAIL. Many people have worked tirelessly on this. I am hopeful that this will lead somewhere. Maybe not this year, but someday.

I am defending a client who is being pursued for a loan with an interest rate of 188 per cent! Usury. Loan Sharking. Period. The abuses of the banking and credit card companies must be stopped! This is a start.

THIS JUST MAKES SENSE... (SO LITTLE DOES NOWADAYS)

I don't want to see anyone default on their debt obligations, BUT if that does happen, its quite possible to settle with creditors for much less than the amount owed, and in some cases, zero dollars.

I assume the debt collection lobby is behind this bill, hoping to jump into the pool when Republicans are in control in Washington. Are they arguing that lawyers and law firms are handicapped by having to comply with the federal fair debt collection law? From my point of view, unethical collection attorneys "get away" with their behavior 9 out of 10 times... but I guess that's not good enough for them!

I knew about zombie debts, but this man's vigilante crusade against the crooks who make millions from fake debts is enlightening. And scary. Who can you trust nowadays?

This really makes me sick.

Republicans want to make it more expensive to attend grad school. Wow, is all I can say. Must have those tax cuts for the 1%.
