Interesting thought... Under this proposal, California income taxes would be considered "charitable contributions" instead, in order to buck the new federal limits on the deduction of state and local taxes.
Excellent news for our local fire victims - the Thomas Fire has been declared as a major disaster by the President, which allows for more federal aid and better tax breaks.
Tax Reform Update: The Senate version of the bill passed the budget committee, and a full vote is expected this week, with McCain cast as the swing vote. Once passed the Senate and House will resolve their bill differences and it will go to Congress for a full vote. At this point, the bill is expected to pass by year-end, and (mostly) go into effect as of Jan. 1, 2018. For more info on the House and Senate bill versions, see our links below!
