Come by lighthouse today between 130 and 430 to pick up your free covid rapid tests. Please use these tests on Sunday evening to ensure your child is negative before returning to school on Monday. We also have free rapid testing on site today from 130 to 430.... Thank you!!

We are looking forward to seeing all of our scholars back for learning on January 10th. We want our school community to remain as safe as possible so Free Rapid COVID testing for students will be available at the school office on Friday January 7 from 130 pm until 430 pm. We will also be distributing 2 free at-home COVID tests to each student for drive by pickup. ... We encourage each family to come pick up a free test and test your student before they return to school on Monday!

Our 8th grade scholars took a field trip to Washington Middle College High School today. They are getting prepared to make decisions regarding their future high school choices! Principal O’Neil, the staff and our student tour guides were so welcoming and helped our students understanding the amazing opportunities they have just around the corner at this gem of a high school. Our desks were caught in endless shipping delays, but the charter school community always rises up to help each other. River Charter School Parent Academy Begins September 30 at 630 pm. Parent Academy will cover topics like stress, dealing with emotional outbursts, setting clear expectations, and reconnecting after difficult days. In addition, as our county prepares for potential in-class instruction, she will guide you through a decision making process, in order to help you make a choice that feels good and is right for your family. Hello families! During their back to school meetings yesterday, teachers outlined the start of the year and gave a brief highlight of their virtual classroom. While teachers answered your specific questions about their year-long academic plan on Monday, we have reserved time for a Q&A session with our Admin team and Superintendent on Tuesday for any questions about our virtual instruction platform.... There will be two sessions held on Tuesday 8/11 for any parents with questions (9:00AM and 6:00PM) with site admins and the superintendent. Then at 10 am and 7 pm today, we will have meetings with our director of special education to answer specific questions for students with IEPs in virtual instruction. Please be ready to ask additional questions at the townhall. Our teachers have been in their classrooms all week doing training to prepare for virtual learning for your scholars. Today is Super Snack Day! Teachers can come to the teachers lounge to pick up healthy or not so healthy treats :) If you see a teacher out in the community or know them online, make sure you share your appreciation! They have been working so hard for your kids!

We know that the state has made some changes requiring that we will be starting the school year with virtual learning. But as we said in our communication to parents yesterday - WE ARE READY! This is just one of those examples - a room full of hundreds of chromebooks that were delivered to Lighthouse and are being prepared right now to provide a high quality virtual learning option as we start school. We appreciate your continued support as we navigate these challenging times in identifying the best and safest options for your students. It still remains our goal to reopen with students in the classroom for parents who desire in person learning when it is safe to do so and allowed under county and state orders.

In these difficult times, the River Charter Schools team is here to support your family in providing a world class education to your student.
