Today marks an end and a beiginng. The end of a campaign and the the beginning of a new chapter in my life as a public figure. Although seeking political office was never my ambition I am proud to say that when there was a need for new leadershipI stepped up to atempt to fill the void. . I was not successful however, we fought hard and I am proud of the support we garnered, the team we put together and the manor in which we articulated our values and ideals. Now I intend to u...se this platform to keep in touch and share my thoughts. www.facebook.com/lifewithdoug is a place I hope to use for my own personal growth. I want to explore ideas, pursue truths and gain clarity for myself about the important issues in life. If that sounds kind of new age hippy dippy or maybe a little self absorbed. Well, too bad this is my blog and I get to create its universe. But I also know that at my stage in life I am not the only one. To all my Family, Friends and Supporters, The support I've received throughout this campaign absolutely humbles me. Thank you for all that you did to support our shared vision for the 41st Congressional District. It was an honor to earn your votes, and more importantly, your respect. This journey has been incredibly rewarding. The relationships we've built over the past year are among the most important gifts I have ever received in my life. My goal is to remain committed... to values and ideas that brought us all together. Just because the campaign ends, doesn't mean our work is done quite the opposite in fact! We must continue to fight for the principles we believe in, and work with one another to move our district and nation forward in a manner that serves the best interests of the people. I also want to congratulate Representative Mark Takano on his re-election. I join many in our district who wholeheartedly pray for his advocacy for all our varied communities he represents in Washington. Riverside is my home. I will continue advocating for our veterans, job creators, entrepreneurs, innovators, students, families, men and women in uniform, public servants, and every one who comprise our vibrant community, and the hundreds of thousands of hard working people who, like me, strive daily to achieve the American Dream. Thank you for going standing by my side and going on this journey with me. Let's remain firmly rooted in truth and love for our neighbor, as we continue our joint efforts to make our district and Nation the best place in the world to live free and thrive.
