If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we can accomplish more when we partner together! Though there is much that has been put on pause this year, God’s mission keeps moving forward. We are excited to announce a new partnership with Pastors Keith & Coco Jenkins and East Hill Church, in Gresham Oregon. In fall 2021, LPU & East Hill will launch an immersive training program called Discover Northwest, which will provide students with an accredited, Biblical education and ha...nds-on ministry and leadership experience. The program will be directed by Pastor’s Immanuel Garraway and Dave Kelly. It is more important than ever that we equip leaders with the tools they need to navigate the turbulent waters of culture and society, while proclaiming the goodness of God. ~ Pastor Keith Jenkins It’s been a long time dream to partner with our friends, Pastor Keith and Coco Jenkins. Current Business student, Simon Pham shares about his Filipino Culture & Heritage: "I say a way I identify with my Filipino culture is definitely having the big emphasis on family since that is something my culture is huge on valuing. We also consider family beyond blood because in my culture, it is a sign of respect to call some of our close friends that are male or female Uncle or Aunty. Although I’m born in the USA, one big thing about my culture is we are huge on the sp...orts basketball and boxing and I remember when I went there when I was little people were big about those 2 sports and for me it’s great having cousins in the Phillipines that share similar interest with me when it comes to sports. One way I love to do it is definitely around the holidays especially since we celebrate Chinese New Year as well which happens every year in the Phillipines especially since I have some Chinese blood as well since I like to help my family cook delicious food like lumpia and adobo. We also like to honor the life of loved ones in my family and we do this every single year by having gatherings to celebrate the life and happiness of the individual that past away. I would like people to know about my culture is to never be afraid to befriend people in the community cause after all once you become a friend you become like a family to where it’s just very hard to refer to the person as only a friend and that relationship can last a life time. LPU Alumna, Pastor Victoria Sowell, shares about her experience at Life Pacific and what "Life After Life" looks like: "I had such a beautiful LPU experience, and the two components that stand out are the relationships I built and my time in the classroom. From professors to campus staff, to forever friends, the community I still have as a result of my LPU experience will be a gift I treasure forever. Likewise, the skills for being a lifelong learner acquired in LPU’s intimat...e classroom setting are what I use every day in nearly every area of my life. Yes, the Bible curriculum changed my life and further cemented my desire to study and teach God’s Word, but beyond that, the ability to ask good questions, approach things humbly, and lead with responsibility are all things the classroom at LPU gave me. I’m thankful for how my biblical studies training at LPU was given from the posture to serve others as the end goal. There was a felt balance between knowledge and application. Every class was taught by a professor who believed in the local church, championed her in all her flaws, and equipped me with knowledge that would draw others into a personal relationship with their Creator. LPU also set me up to succeed in my journey towards wholeness. Being in your 20’s in a new environment is hard and through on-campus counseling, quality mentors, campus life opportunities, and the safe place of weekly chapels, LPU helped me see who God made me to be. I’m currently an associate pastor at a local church in the Bay Area and my husband Reed (who I met at an LPU preview!) and I are the NextGen Directors for our district. I’m also a mom, mentor, sister, daughter, friend...and the list goes on! LPU was a place where my confidence in my calling and abilities was nurtured. My experience at LPU has only helped establish credibility as a young leader, opened countless doors of opportunity, and given me a solid foundation for continued discipleship with Jesus." #LifeAfterLife
