Life at Delta Dental Ins 13.12.2020

"In February 2011, my nephew Sy Sherman was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer at the age of eight... Sy was given six months to live. Sy had a tremendous heart and zest for life, he proved to be a fighter and battled the disease for nearly two years before passing away in December of 2012. It is for this reason that my family and I are devoted to supporting organizations such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. No child should suffer from this disease and no pa...rent or family member should experience the pain of losing a child. Each year my wife and I participate in the "Ride for a Reason" event sponsored by our local gym, LifeTime fitness. We raise money in Sy’s name to help the children fighting cancer and to support the family members dedicated to being there for the kids." Thank you to Brian Sherman, our vice president of HR, for sharing this very personal story. Your touching tribute to little Sy is an inspiration to us all this giving season.

In celebration of the giving season, we're spotlighting our employees who give back to their communities! Executive Assistant Ann Schmidt is a regular volunteer and contributor to Metro Relief, a mobile outreach organization that provides hope to the homeless in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. Metro Relief feeds the hungry, builds relationships and provides resources to the homeless, including assistance in obtaining vital documents like IDs which are required to apply for ...local aid and housing. Metro Relief also provides transportation for medical and mental health services. Ann has even recruited fellow Sales team members to join her volunteer efforts. "The work Metro Relief does makes a big difference in the lives of the homeless and they depend on it. I volunteer on the bus and I remember one very rainy day when the bus rolled up and started handing out soup in the rain. One man said he didn’t think the bus would come because of the rain, but was sure glad it did."
