Quick restore job for myself. Western Electric ringer for my phone. The ringer I have been using for years is an ugly thing with a very busted case. I found this little Western Electric ringer yesterday and decided to take it (my phone is W.E. anyways). Some quick work last night and this morning made it look very nice, just waiting on some fresh polish for the metal parts and it'll be good to alert me of incoming calls!

Due to space shortage, I'm selling the 1937 Ediphone set for cheap. I never really got the chance to properly put it up for sale. The set comes with all 3 Ediphones (shaver, recorder, and player), nice Smith Corona typewriter & stand, Ediphone player remote control and earphones, lots of cylinders & tubes, time tags, folders, some repro letterhead papers I had made, and all machines are serviced and in fairly nice original condition! If you want a functional piece of recording history, the first $800 takes it home!

Picked up a few more watches to-day, this one was neat and I thought I'd share. It's an 1806 J. Berrefs pocket watch. It has a fusee movement, which is an early form of isochronism (spring strength variation) compensation that utilizes a very tiny chain drive! The watch functions well and keeps time. I'll be putting it in the shop on Friday.

I was working on a project this morning and got to thinking, I should make a nice paper label for machines that I've serviced or restored... so I stopped doing real work and started mucking about in Photoshop, and this is what I've come up with. A nice thick cardstock label with my name, signature, and date of work. I plan on putting these on every talking machine I work on hence forth. If you have a machine that was purchased from me, or that I have serviced for you, I'd be more than happy to give you a copy of my new decal. It can be picked up, or I can mail it out, free of charge!

The Victor V is finished! It's up for sale now in the Escondido antique mall! Video coming to-morrow, but I can guarantee you now it sounds phenomenal!

Who wanted that ugly old alligatored finish anyways?

Disassembly has begun.

Not sure how long the restoration will take for this behemoth of a gramophone, but I'm excited to get started on it so I don't think it'll be long.

Just in! An earlier model Victor V with the widely coveted speartip oak horn! The horn was smashed unfortunately, so I'll be doing my first ever wood splicing operation on a wood horn, but I'm confident it will turn out OK. The reproducer was also smashed, so it's currently sporting one I rebuilt for a friend's machine. Restoration will start on this beautiful talking machine to-day and a video will be uploaded shortly of it playing.

1902 Columbia front mount playing the Columbia Phonograph Co. March! This machine is done and up for sale for $1400

Well here it is, after a nice fresh complete mechanical overhaul! It'll be going home on Saturday and hopefully last another hundred years or more! Sorry for the poor video/audio quality, I really need to invest in a proper video camera... this video does not do justice to how wonderful and loud this machine really is, nor does it capture the colors and detail of the floral horn very well. (also, I have a train set on the floor right now so I was stumbling over all of it while walking around, if you listen closely you might hear me kick a few lamp posts and telephone poles over :) ). I'll try and post more pictures of customer machines in the future so you guys can see some neat stuff other than the junk I buy.
