Just months after Liberty Cab went out of business after serving Chico for 12 years, some of its former drivers have officially launched a new cab company call Star Taxi.

To our valued customers and Chico neighbors, Both my partner, John Beaver, and I have been honored to have Liberty Cab be a part of the Chico community for the past twelve years.. We had both been in the local taxi-cab industry for many years before founding Liberty Cab and it was important that service and community involvement be an important part of the new business. We were very aware that our industry has a negative reputation with much of the public and have tried... our best to change that. We've had successes and failures in trying to achieve that goal but the people of Chico noticed what we were doing, treated us well and we'll always appreciate that. It is with regret, though, that we must announce that we will be closing our doors on April 30th. Support from our passengers has been great but we are no longer able to find enough qualified applicants interested in driving taxi-cabs. Many of you have patiently suffered increasingly long wait times over the past several months as we've desperately tried to solve this problem but we are no longer able to maintain the level of staff to continue operating or provide an acceptable level of service. We apologize for the inconvenience that this will cause many of you. We will be working with some of our long time drivers to help them get their own cabs on the road and we're confident that they will be providing excellent service to Chico in the very near future. It was close but we beat last years #RideforLife total! $696 from the drivers for a total of $1392 after the company match! Thanks to everyone who participated.
