We are proud to say our Air Force Junior ROTC were highlighted in the latest edition of the textbook, Exploring Space: The High Frontier. Our cadets tracked NASA’s Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite to study ice water on the moon. The cadets photographed the satellite's impact and sent the first viewed images to NASA. First District Supervisor Robert Lovingood also shared this news in his Newsletter! Here is the link: https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts//bulletins/2a758f9

We will be holding a Costume Contest for all of our students to participate. There will be a first , second, and third place winner! Please post your photo submission with the Caption "Lewis Center Costume Contest 2020" and tag us or you can email it to [email protected] as well by 10/31. We want to take some time to thank the KFC franchise in the High Desert for leaving our staff "fowl-mouthed" today! They were kind enough to donate some grab & go meals to our hard working educators. When all you can fried chicken is think about, stop by one of their 4 locations in Apple Valley, Victorville, and Hesperia.

Are you interested in learning more about the charter school movement? We encourage you to become a subscriber to CharterFolk, a new newsletter and online community being founded by Jed Wallace, the former head of the California Charter Schools Association. I am already a subscriber to CharterFolk and I find Jed’s commentaries insightful and galvanizing, and I also enjoy reading the material that many other people in the national charter school movement share on the site. Ri...ght now CharterFolk has a donor match encouraging as many people as possible to become readers. For every new subscriber, CharterFolk can recruit this month, the nonprofit receives $20. So here’s a small way you could help at no cost if you might be so inclined. I provide a link below. It’s literally one minute. Your name, your email, your password, and you’re done. Try it for a few weeks. Hopefully, you’ll find the content of interest and remain a reader. But if you don’t like it, well just unsubscribe at that point. https://charterfolk.com/register/complimentary-membership/ And for those of you who would like to offer additional support to sustain the efforts of CharterFolk, a link to paid subscriber options is provided. All subscriptions are tax-deductible like any other charitable contribution, and any new paid subscription will also allow CharterFolk to draw down the $20 match. https://charterfolk.com/subscription/ Thank you for considering this. It would be great to have you as a fellow reader of CharterFolk! Regards, Lisa
