A very nice gentleman brought this beautiful Baume and Mercier watch into our San Diego showroom along with some other jewelry he wanted to sell. I asked if he could tell me about the original owner and he could, because the owner was his mother. He said she loved this watch and several others she wore. He told me his mother was ahead of her time, too, entering into a business professional life at a ...time when there were nearly no women at all in executive positions. I told him that was appropriate because Baume & Mercier, the company that made her luxury watch, was a big supporter of women’s emancipation in the Roaring Twenties. He liked that and said it fit his mother perfectly. He was selling some of her jewelry to settle her estate and make some charitable contributions in her name.
