This month I'm talking about what to expect in the real estate market in 2021. Are we going to see a crash??? I don’t know about you, but I’ve found the media often uses negative headlines to get more viewers, so let’s look at projections for 2021 from people that have their pulse on the market and are experts in the real estate industry. Low interest rates are an indicator of a continuing strong housing market. According to Freddie Mac, interest rates are projected to rem...ain low for some time - in the low threes for the remainder of 2021. And Chief Economist of Realtor.com Danielle Hale, states We expect home sales in 2021 to come in seven percent above 2020 levels. Also, all the major servicers like Fannie Mae, the Mortgage Bankers Association and others are forecasting an increase in home prices in 2021. Not as significant of an increase as we’ve seen in previous years, but still an increase. And according to Lawrence Yun Chief Economist of the National Association of Realtors This winter may be one of the best winters for sales activity...on a winter-to-winter comparison, this could be one of the best breakout years just based on the fact that pending contracts are at such a higher level. Weekend Drive-In at the Roadium Torrance The 15-acre Roadium in Torrance opened in 1948 as a drive-in cinema, but by the ’80s the space was mostly used as a swap meet (specifically, the swap meet where, legend has it, a record seller introduced Eazy-E to Dr. Dre). This year, the opportunity to work remotely has increased the demand for vacation homes. Buyers are taking advantage of the fact that working from home can be someplace other than their primary residence at the beach , the mountains , or somewhere in between. NAR ex...plains: Sales in vacation-home counties increased 48% on average year over year in the third quarter; overall, 81% of vacation-home counties saw a year-over-year sales increase. 2020 has been a year that has allowed a lot of introspection, as we spent less time doing, and more time being. As I look forward to 2021, I want to take the best lessons I learned with me: - [ ] Connect more. Whether it’s over coffee, a glass of wine, a shared meal, or an in-office meeting, I’m more cognizant than ever about how these small connections enrich my life.... - [ ] Smile more. I have been amazed by how much a mask really covers, and how difficult it is to recognize and intuit the feelings and emotions of others with the bottom half of their face covered. What a gift a smile is to others around you, and I want to make sure when I have the opportunity to share my smile again, I make the most of it. - [ ] Appreciate more. This year has made us more aware than ever of the many blessings in our lives. Warm homes, loving families, full bellies, and a community that cares. I don’t want to take these things for granted when we go back to the hustle and bustle of normal life. It’s not about getting more, but appreciating what I have. I’m going to remember to stop and smell the roses. - [ ] Complain less. Boy, some of the things I used to complain about seem pretty insignificant now. I’m going to choose not to sweat the small stuff moving forward. - [ ] Encourage and share more. I want to remember that I live in a world of abundance, and that we all win together. As I strive to be the best version of myself, I want to encourage and help you be the best version of yourself. - [ ] Love Anyway Even when someones viewpoint is different than my own, I want to remember the we are more alike than different, and love anyway. People matter. Kindness matters. The world needs a lot more love and I want to do my part to move that agenda forward in my own small way. I’d love to hear your goals and dreams for 2021 - hopefully one day soon that will be in person. Wishing you and your family a healthy, happy, and blessed 2021!
