Megan, the proud mom of Will, hosts a small event each year to raise money towards her Saddle Up fundraising page. Last year she was unable to host an in-person event, so her and her family hosted a Facebook Live fundraiser, and it looked like SO much fun! They raffled off prizes and encouraged donations with fun and silly incentives, such as, "the next person to donate over $25 gets to pick a song for me to karaoke!" and more. This year, Megan and her family hosted a Zoom ev...ent in an effort to raise money. Once again, she engaged her family and friends with fun, heartfelt games and activities to raise money. What is Saddle Up? Saddle Up is Friends of Leaps & Bound’s largest annual fundraiser to support operations. On May 1, 2021 more than 200 people will attend this Derby-themed event under the stars on the Leaps & Bounds campus. This year we have two different attendance options, in-person and virtual, to help raise more than $150,000 in donations. Want to get involved? 2020 was a big year for Leaps. Not only did we celebrate our 10 year anniversary, but we actually GREW during a global pandemic. We added some incredible therapists to our team and expanded our reach with over 2,065 hours of teletherapy. Last year, we had 37,994 completed visits... WOW. That is 11,097 visits more than in 2019. This means that 37,994 times we helped make someone’s day a little bit brighter. And that is thanks to all of you, for supporting us, for trusting us, and believing in our mission. Now THAT is something to celebrate!

Our adaptive riding program is open to all ages and abilities who are interested in learning how to ride a horse, or would like to further their horsemanship skills. Many of our riders have no prior horse experience before stepping on our ranch for the first time. Not only does this program teach horsemanship skills, but it also provides great peer learning and socialization. ... Contact us for more information at [email protected]

#BigLittleLeaps : Meet Steve! Steve has been riding at Leaps for 3 years. He struggled with knee pain throughout the day (and when sitting in the saddle), but since his riding instructor, Megan, has been working on different strengthening exercises during his lessons, he has been having little to no knee pain! Steve is a joyful presence around the campus, and has bonded with his favorite horse, Cash. They make quite the pair with their matching mustaches!

#TerminologyTuesday : OT Edition Postural Stability: The ability to stabilize the trunk while the arms and legs move during functional movements. Trunk/core strength includes muscles that stabilize the hips and shoulders.... This is important for children when engaging in dressing, tabletop activities, and other significant daily tasks. Stay tuned for some fun ways to strengthen your postural stability!

#MeetTheStaffMonday : Meet Jaylyn! Jaylyn joined our speech team in July 2020, and has been the perfect addition to our Leaps family. She is a licensed SLPA who received her Bachelor's degree from California Baptist University. Jaylyn learned about speech therapy at a young age and knew she wanted to be a speech therapist ever since. She spent most of her summers volunteering her time here at Leaps & Bounds, until she began college. ... Jaylyn truly believes that communicating is the key to success. In her spare time, Jaylyn enjoys going on spontaneous adventures, hanging out with friends and family, and taking her dog on walks.
