This last week we were saddened to hear of the passing of a LA legend, Mr. Tommy Lasorda (1927 - 2021). He was an icon who epitomized the soul of Los Angeles sportsmanship. We’re happy that Tommy got to see another Dodger championship win just months ago. We discuss Mr. Lasorda on the tours where we pass his favorite restaurant sites and Dodger traditions, such as Little Joe’s and Philippe’s.
BRAND NEW virtual experience: LA Music Scene: The Jazz Era (the 1st of a 3 part series) on Saturday, January 9th at 5:30 pm. Join a discussion about the rich history of the various music scenes that were unique to Los Angeles. It isn’t a history of music in LA but rather music genres that have a special relationship to LA. Some of these genres were invented in whole or in part here while others were branded or repackaged in way that could only come from Los Angeles. This jour...ney will take us from the early days of LA before the 20s all the way up to the 90s from Jazz to Rock to Rap. In this first installment, we will discuss the Jazz Era in LA between 1917 and 1960. Along the way we will chat about the exciting and vibrant Central Avenue neighborhood, the Big Band palaces and West Coast Jazz. https://www.lawalkingtours.com/la-music-scene-the-jazz-era
