A high credit score is NOT an indicator of financial success. A credit score is an "I DEBT" score, and you don't need one. It has nothing to do with how much ...money you have in the bank. You could get a million dollar raise today, and it wouldn't impact your credit score one bit. All a credit score represents is your relationship with debt. It's based on how many times you've borrowed money and paid it back, so you could borrow more money and pay that back, and continue to dive deeper and deeper into debt. Chasing a high credit score is ridiculous. It makes the banks richer and richer and pushes you further and further away from your goals. It's time to stop playing the credit score game and take back YOUR money. Pay off debt as fast as you can, and don't look back. You know what you have when you don't have payments?... MONEY! I have a zero credit score, and I'm doing just fine. Yes, you can still rent a car, or an apartment, or even get a mortgage without a credit score. It takes a little more effort to live a life without a credit score, but it's a heck of a lot better than owing people money for the rest of your life.

People have recently asked me are bankruptcy filings up? Answer definitely NOT. Per the Northern District of California Bankruptcy Court website, filings in Nov...ember, 2020 are down 35% as compared to November, 2019. There has been a noticeable drop since March when Covid closures started. Chapter 7 filings are down 26% and Chapter 13 filings are down a whopping 60%. Putting that in perspective, bankruptcy filings have been dropping each year since 2011. We are on track to have half as many filings as 2015. The mortgage forbearances, eviction moratoriums, and court closures are big reasons but at some point the situation will change. See more
