Beginning Monday, May 11th, I will be seeing in office appointments again. Any current clients who wish to come in should also make an appointment during office hours. This is to ensure that there are not a bunch of people all at one time in our very small lobby area. The door remains locked to the general public, but if you have an appointment merely knock for entry. The locked door is primarily to keep Full Service Property Management tenants, owners, vendors, etc. from entering, which would significantly increase the lobby traffic. O

Glenn County Superior Court's clerk's office is closed with a drop box for filings. All family law cases can be filed, but only motions for emergency or domestic violence restraining orders are being heard before May 18th, which is when the clerk's office will be reopened. Guardianships and LPS conservatorships are also still being heard, but Court Call is encouraged.

The office continues to be open via phone and email and I am continuing to work to resolve cases in a timely manner. Our doors, however, are locked, but I am continuing to meet with new clients via phone. With that said, the Courts are open for very limited purposes, with each Court that I practice in having different rules. For Butte County, as of today, contested family law/probate matters are being continued or set past May 18th. Family law motions are being heard now, but there is a cap of 12 cases to be heard in the morning and 12 in the afternoon. No Department of Child Support Services cases are being heard until after May 18th. Guardianship petitions and terminations are being heard on their regular day, but, if contested, being set out past May 18th. More detail can be reviewed at the courts' websites.

My office will have phone hours from 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 4:30pm Monday thru Thursday and 9am to 12pm on Friday starting today, March 23rd. Our doors will not be open while we are "sheltering in place". However, I will be continuing to work and current clients will be able to reach me by phone or email. Courts are closed for most purposes, however, should you have need of emergency orders or restraining orders, the Courts are continuing to address those. Potential new clients may make a phone appointment with me. and, as per usual, the initial consultation is free. In the mean time, I hope everyone is taking appropriate steps to keep themselves, their loved ones, their neighbors, friends and our community safe during this challenging time.

The office will not be open today, however, I am monitoring my emails and phone messages are being checked. If you have an upcoming hearing, I am checking with court staff to determine whether or not the hearing is being held. Contested hearings and trials are being vacated and reset to a future date. For Butte County that is after May 18th. Glenn County has not indicated and Tehama County's courthouse is closed thru April 3rd, with limited exceptions. If there is a need for emergency orders or restraining orders, I believe the Courts are still addressing those.

Settled into our new office space at 676 E. First Avenue, Suite 14 in Chico and our sign is now up so people can find us.
