Lemon Poppyseed Greek Yogurt Scones to celebrate the weekend? I think yes! These scones by @krollskorner are not your typical dry and crumbly pieces of bread. Instead, they have a perfectly moist texture that makes you crave it for breakfast, dessert, and as a snack! Lemons are a great fruit to use during the summer, and this particular recipe uses it in the mouth-watering scone itself, as well as in the crunchy and sweet sugar lemon icing drizzled on top! If I’ve already made your mouth water, check out the full recipe here: https://bit.ly/2zpWSZN

Ash gourd, also known as winter melon, is a popular fruit in Southern Asia for its tasty flesh and cucumber-like properties. This interesting fruit is 96% water, but it still contains an excellent amount of nutrients, especially antioxidants. It is also rich in fiber, flavonoids, and carotene! The great thing about ash gourd is that it can be used in both savory and sweet dishes. It can be topped over a salad, used in soups or stews, or it can be candied, added in ice cream, or blended into a smoothie. This fruit is perfect to use when you’re in need of something fresh and hydrating! Here’s an ash gourd recipe by @ArchanasKitchen: https://bit.ly/3azaQVU

Recently, @jordanmazur, the Coordinator of Nutrition and the @49ers team dietitian revealed some nutrition secrets that the 49ers football players have been following to stay healthy during their time spent at home. Here are some tips that he shared: Eat a balanced breakfast every day. Start the day with protein, complex carbs, fruits, and vegetables. It sets the tone for the day to kickstart your system, providing it with all the nutrients it needs. Fill your plate with v...egetables at every meal. He says everyone in general could use more vegetables (I agree!) to load up on the antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, and minerals that this food group provides. Plan ahead. Save money and unnecessary excess intake of sodium, sugar, additives, etc. from dining out by spending a few hours every weekend to meal prep. Get enough sleep. Getting enough sleep (aim for 7-9 hrs/night) is just as important as nutrition and exercise! Take care of gut health - and lucky for you, I specialize in GI (so DM or email me with questions). Having disruptions in your gut bacteria can lead to serious chronic diseases including diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and obesity.
