Although isolated and social distancing just like you, the individuals we serve have used this time to enjoy their creative skills. For individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, music and art ignite their development and skills. Music helps improve many of our participants' emotional, social, and mental well-being. Art encourages creativity and expression, especially for those who are non-verbal; it fosters conversation. At Las Trampas, we believe in th...e whole person's well-being and encourage individuals to use their talents, be it painting or music, as a form of expression and communication. Two of our participants, twin brothers Ethan and Dylan, have taken their neighborhood walks to another level by sharing their artwork supporting National Autism Awareness Month. We want to thank Ethan and Dylan’s mom Shirley for sharing her sons’ project, the painted rocks, with us. Through their project, not only did they bring a smile to everyone, but they created awareness. Las Trampas provides programs for individuals who experience the effects of Autism Spectrum Disorde...r, allowing them to discover their capabilities, to lead full lives, and be an active part of their community. Las Trampas participant Josh and had his dad, Greg, had a chance to have a personal tour of the new building on the Las Trampas Campus! Josh's mom, Lisa, shared this photo and story with us, and we are sure Josh is truly smiling under his mask! Josh and his family frequently take outings to the Las Trampas parking lot to view the new building's progress. Here is the note we received from Lisa, along with the photo. Josh (with Greg) was the first client to tour Las Trampas' n...ew facility. We visit the parking lot often to view the progress. On Friday, the architect introduced himself in the parking lot, and we had a nice visit. The builder joined us and invited Josh to an escorted visit to see the facility Saturday. Lots of technological wonder in this facility for this exceptional community! Thank you, Lisa, for sharing this note with us. If you would like to see the new building, we host a virtual tour of the Lafayette Campus project each month. Our next virtual tour will be on Tuesday, April 13th, at 3 p.m. You can register for our tour by visiting lastrampas.org to stay updated on Las Trampas' happenings, including information on our building progress. Click on the OUR STORIES tab and then REACH Beyond Campaign to register for our next tour, view past virtual tours, or donate to the project.
