Looong days going on here, trying to take advantage of a cold snap here to get some fencing up at the mountain ranch 12 hrs today, and my best helper called and then showed up .we got a corral put in except for one panel I have to bring, and I cut dead wood and lined out a small pen for the horses. Helper Marco is smart enough to leave on his own with a task and has zero problem following directions. His new girlfriend made him lunch and he was laughing because she tucked it in a small purse, not having any bags , he made sure to eat it even though I only had him out for a couple hours, said if he didn't take the purse lunch and be grateful, he might not get another one. Smart man!

Yesterday I enjoyed watching Batman, the new severely stunted piggy, explore the yard. For possibly the first time, he gets to be a pig, rooting, mud baths, whatever he wants to do, he can even run without running into walls. He seems to be moving better since his hoof trim. Chico is a small pig but looks large compared to Batman.

Good morning! Hope your week is going well, I'm walking down to the store at our mountain ranch to see if I can shanghai a helper to move some corral panels off the trailer and set them up. The 24 ft panels are HEAVY and awkward. People with machinery will use a tractor ect to move them, but that's not here. Have yourself a spectacular day!

To love me, is to love my pigs

Big pig Watson is in the barn with the small boars , since his pen and bedding got wet. Keeping him in bedding is a chore, due to his amazing ability to turn blankets into confetti. Straw wont work either, it is poor quality here and his weight and constant movement breaks it down to nothing.

Meanwhile, little "Batman" is trying to find his place here , the snotty young girl pigs decided to bite him, so he has a couple scrapes, but Could not resist leaving the safety of the barn to explore yesterday after I penned up the girls. I will wait till he knows the yard better , and all escape routes before turning them out together again. Even Chico is indifferent to him, but the small boars, Boris and Stanley seemed to welcome him, marching up grunting "Sup man"? Maybe he can room with them.

Some more Visitors. Robert, a local who has fixed my van and other things , dropped off a part with two daughters in tow. Pig feeding was in order of course.

Better pic of the ladies who came down to help last weekend. It was great to have some help, SO many things go on behind the obvious scene at any rescue, it was Awesome to have help and company , plus I can tell hounds Milo and Joe were glad to see old friends.

Dog tired. Thats Milo after I mistakenly turned him out without any tracking collar. After hours of hunting and stress on my part,he is back in, looking a little bit worse for wear. These Hounds are dedicated hunters, and Milo is from the hunt till you drop club. He is holding up the house just fine though.

As if coming down from hours away and working here was not enough, the ladies who showed up on Saturday, also brought goodies!!! Food for pigs, horses , birds ,ect and drinks for me! This was amazing, as I really don't get to town much to shop, being stuck at the ranch . They also brought bedding ,that I go through a LOT of. CHlCO approves of the food!

Meet *Batman" dropped off yesterday by some owners who no longer had time for him, they drove him from a neighboring state, he is an example of what breeders will do to market "mini pigs" and make a buck . Batman was likely starved to stay small, and as a result he IS small and also suffering from some severe joint problems . He wobbles when he walks , and knuckles two feet under , he also has some jaw issues. Owners helped me trim overgrown toes, and he spent the afternoon rooting in the yard after escaping his pen , something he could not do as a house pet. I'm almost in tears looking at the little guy ,but trying to remember HE does not know he is different. Mike helped me usher him into the barn for the night, after first shouting " to the bat cave!' and offering him a sip of his drink.
