A surprise layer of clouds rolled in this afternoon making for some unusually soft southern light, time to grab the garlic...dinner can wait! Photo was taken on my Nikon D810 using a 30+ year old Nikkor 105mm micro lens.
So honored to be nominated again for one of the 7 best. Thank you Black and White Photography! Prints are available thanks for your interest!
Such an honor to be recognized in a group of 36K talented photographers even once, but twice in one week in different categories...WOW thank you Black and White Photography!
I was struck by the shape of this red bell pepper while grocery shopping today, so I bought it, took it home and channeled (as best I could) the famous photographer Edward Weston. This is a digital image, but I also shot a few frames on b/w medium format film. Stay tuned for a comparison....
Insomnia has it's upsides too I guess. Here are a couple from the other night, shot on my favorite color film stock Kodak Portra 400 with a Nikon FM2. If you would like a print please message me for details...Cheers
Nothing in life is guarenteed, especially when shooting film, "it's like a box of chocolates you never know what you're going to get"! I finally had the chance to shoot this scene and wouldn't you know the first and best two frames had light leaks...the rest of the roll is fine, so I know the film holder is free of leaks. It must have happened while either loading or unloading the film, probably during loading as the leaks are at the beginning of the roll. In hindsight, given the old and rustic nature of the subject, maybe a happy accident?! Shot on my Mamiya 67 prosd medium format camera using Kodak Portra 400.
Found this one in the archives from Nov. '18. Sadly, it's much more interesting to look at than the building it helped to build...imo!
With four frames left on a roll of IlfordHP5 400 and never seeing the '#UrbanLight' display at #LACMA lit, I thought it would be a good place to test the dynamic range of this film. I think it held up very well (inspite of my poor metering). There is still some detail in both the highlights (except for the actual light bulb itself which should be expected) and you see detail in the building to left which was in quit dark shadow. The black and white photos were shot with a Mamiya 67Pro Sd The color photo is from my iphone and is a reference for when I return to the scene again with color film.
Last night's attempt at comet Neowise didn't turn out as I had hoped...wind blowing my tripod, light polution and I didn't have my long lens, but hey I saw it and had fun in the process! These three are the same shot in various stages of the edit. The first is the raw file from camera with no edit The second...edited to try and reduce the light pollution The third is heavely cropped in attempt to get closer since I wasn't shooting telephoto (bad mistake).
Here are a couple of versions from my latest set of sunflower photos. Have you ever taken the time to look at the amazing detail on the back of one..nature is amazing!
Is taking over two hundred photos of the same subject over a two day period considered OCD lol? I'm thinking about calling this one 'Ballerinas'. Does anyone else see them?
Closed for the evening, will re-open tomorrow at dawn! #daylily #flora #stayhome
