Larner Vineyard Ballard Canyon

Many of my winemakers friends these days congratulate me, and I ask them why. Because, they say, after 6 years you finally got your permit. Even thought our pro...ject was finally approved, little do they know that the neighbors appealed me and I'm looking at going into a 7th year with still no permit in hand. The opposition says they support Mom & Pop, what are we then? My project is permissible both under the old and proposed new ordinance, so why are we not approved - because neighbors "feel it is inappropriate"? The deaths they reference on our road were underage kids, tragedies not related to our business. So why are we being blamed for all that is wrong on the roads, especially since 90% of accident on our roads are locals, and 80% of DUI's are locals (CHP report recently published)? We feel like this is simply a witch hunt, and we are the target. How can the community come together when neighbors are painting those targets on our backs? See more
