The Mill Creek Dam in San Vicente Redwoods is set to be removed this summer. The demolition will greatly benefit steelhead and Coho salmon populations. We are thrilled to be a part of the effort to conserve SVR in partnership with Sempervirens Fund, Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST), and Save the Redwoods League!

Last week, over a dozen talented botanists showed up to help identify plants at Rocks Ranch. While no special status plant species have yet to be found, we continue to be amazed by the healthy, intact native plant communities at the ranch. Happy Earth Day! What are you doing to help protect the Earth and Santa Cruz County today? Here are a few ideas: Volunteer: At the Land Trust of Santa Cruz County, we rely on dedicated volunteers to help with ongoing stewardship and monitoring work, or to lend a hand at our annual broom pull events. Visit: Take your family or friends to Antonelli Pond, Byrne-Milliron Forest, Davenport Bluffs or the Glenwood Open Space Preserve - the more people who know and love these pr...operties the better. Donate: Your gift today will support the protection of 4,000 acres of wildlands, the building of one wildlife crossing (under Highway 17), and protecting land for a second wildlife crossing (under Highway 101). https://landtrustsantacruz.givingfuel.com/donate

We are moving from the planning phase into the permitting phase for the ADA trail at Antonelli Pond! The permitting process is a little more complex because the property is in the Coastal Zone and the pond is a great natural resource. We are optimistic that we'll break ground this Fall!

These recent reports of sickly lions in Santa Cruz County are heartbreaking to read. We hope the department of Fish and Wildlife will get to the bottom of this quickly. Remember, a desperate cat is a dangerous cat.
