We're excited to see this updated guidance from the CDC for fully vaccinated individuals (2 weeks post-second shot). Please note, we continue to follow state and county guidelines as a club. https://www.washingtonpost.com//cdc-guidance-masks-outdo/

To Jeff Galloway the originator of run/walk/run and who consulted during our founding goes our prayers for a speedy and complete recovery Jeff's post: To my Galloway Community, ... After a career of being the cheerleader and coach for those who have come back from injuries and illness, I will now be the athlete on the recovery trail. Last Monday I was just finishing up a short Elliptigo and rowing session when I got up and suddenly experienced a dizziness that I hadn’t had before. After trying to walk around the house to settle myself, the symptoms got worse - nausea and extreme fatigue. My health and the Piedmont team allowed me to survive what we now know was a heart attack, but even those advantages won’t make it easy to get back to full strength. My family and I thank you for your support during this recovery time. I will be taking some downtime to recuperate, but I can’t wait to be back seeing everyone at events, retreats, and virtually. I hope you can get out today and run or walk, hug or call a loved one, and if you are feeling bad GO SEE SOMEONE about it. Doctors and science are pretty amazing!

As many of you may have seen, the McCourt Foundation has changed the dates for both the Rose Bowl (formerly Pasadena) Half Marathon and the L.A. Marathon. The LA LEGGERS has always been a program geared toward helping each and every member develop a healthy lifestyle. We used training in endurance athletics (walking, running or a combo of both) as our source of activity and then set an intermediate goal of completing a half marathon or marathon. Though the intermediate goal h...as a new target date, the goal remains the same as does our ultimate objective of facilitating a healthy lifestyle for all. The club will take the next few days to review and adjust our training schedule to reflect the new dates of both races. With the benefit of added time, we encourage all to include balance, strength, flexibility training sessions into your midweek trainings. However, the decisions will not be made in a vacuum of the Coaches and training committee. We invite your input at [email protected]. The LA LEGGERS prides itself on involvement and growth based on a community of members not on the decisions of few, and we are asking for your input.. Our Thursday December 2 evening Zoom roundtable will be discussing the changes, and we hope you will attend or listen to the replay. We are also reaching out to our sister clubs (Pasadena Pacers, USA Marathon Training, and others) to share ideas. Lastly, a thank you to the McCourt Foundation and their Medical Advisory staff for being serious regarding the health and safety of all (runners, volunteers, staff and spectators), and making the necessary hard decisions

Thank you Mentor Coordinator Liz Moseley for sharing! Did you watch the Presidential Inauguration today? Did you know that 13.5 member Joan Wicks was on the platform accompanying her daughter Amanda Gorman, who read her original poem to the nation and world? She was flawless in her delivery. Joan reports that they have had a whirlwind of calls and requests for interviews. Amanda is scheduled to appear on GMA . We're very proud and happy for Joan! Can't wait to get the nitty gritty details when she returns.

According to information received from his wife, Carol, Charles Sayles, who was part way thru his goal of attempting to become the first over 70 finisher of 3 circuits of the 50 states and over 250 marathons finished), died peacefully in his sleep today after succumbing to complications from a fall last year. His first marathon was at age 63. He was 82. The LEGGERS family has lost a truly good man, but we know that when the races return Charles' spirit will be with us at every start line
