Meet Coach George A. Cobb: George returned to Lakewood YMCA Gymnastics in 2020 and has taken on the position of Competition Team Manager and Head Coach. George has over 20 years of experience working with the YMCA. George is certified as a Gymnastics Coach through USA Gymnastics (USAG). He is also USAG safety certified and has certifications as a Personal Trainer and massage therapist.... Coach George is passionate about teaching and says: "If I can influence anyone to grow and move forward in whatever they are trying to accomplish, I feel I am doing the best. I coach at the YMCA because it's bigger than me, it’s for the kids, and is about their health: mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. This is something I have not found at other gymnastics facilities." Welcome back, George!

Staff Highlight: Miss Gloria. Gloria teaches and coaches academy classes and teams at the Lakewood YMCA. She is a Kinesiology major at Cal. State Long Beach with an emphasis on fitness. Gloria is assisting with strength workouts for our higher-level competition team. She was a previous Optional Team Member at Lakewood Y Gymnastics and she was on the Wrestling Team at Paramount High School. Great job Gloria!

Staff Highlight: Miss Marissa! Marissa has been teaching/coaching at the Lakewood YMCA for 5 years. Prior to that, she was an Optional Level team member and a standout for the St. Joseph Varsity Girls Gymnastics Team. She coaches classes, teams, and minigym. Marissa is a Kinesiology major at Cal State Long Beach and will be graduating with her Bachelor's degree this May. Congratulations, Miss Marissa!
