Great News Lake Hills DID YOU KNOW? Property owners in the State Responsibility Area will no longer be responsible to pay the SRA Fire Prevention Fee Six years ago, in 2011, Governor Jerry Brown signed into law a Fire Prevention Fee on habitable structures in the state’s wildland fire responsibility area, also called the SRA. The yearly fee, formerly $152.33 per habitable structure, has paid for various activities to prevent and suppress fires in the SRA. ... On Tuesday, July 25, 2017, the Governor signed another law (Assembly Bill 398) suspending that fire prevention fee, effective July 1, 2017. The fee is suspended until 2031. The fire prevention activities, formerly paid for by the SRA fee, will continue but, according to the legislation, will now be funded by a different source, rather than property owners in the SRA. So, while property owners in the SRA still remain subject to certain wildfire prevention standards, they won’t be charged the fire prevention fee. First American NHD and JCP-LGS Disclosure Reports will reflect this new information in the Advisory and Tax sections of the report.
