Wowzer and Holy Cow, what a show !!! Dusty Britches here to say that Mt. Lassen Hatchery didn’t disappoint !!! You’ll need to put a saddle on some of those rainbow trout that were planted last Thursday May 21st. Lane, the driver who delivered the 3,000 pounds of beauties..may have included a new lake record trout in this batch. I just passed an angler on my way to the office who had his fingers stuck up the gill plates of two 10 plus pound trout as I’m listening to our n...Continue reading
WOW! Lake Cuyamaca fishermen are pulling in some beauties this weekend!
GREAT NEWS! The Lake reopened for fishing, hiking and camping last Saturday, May 16th, with the necessary safety and social distancing protocols in place. We will be working with half our usual parking spots and campsites, and 2 people at a time are allowed in the tackle shop. Bring your masks! (Our cabins and sites are fully booked for Memorial Day weekend.)
Thank you, Sarah Kinder, for this beautiful photo!
Message from the General Manager: Monday, May 11th, I will be having an employee meeting to update the employees on the changes and upgrades we have made to date. I am also going to be asking them which employees will be willing to come back to work so I can develop an updated work schedule. Monday, the signage required by the County will be ready to pick up. Night crawlers and essential bait will be ordered for pick up on Wednesday. We have ordered two card readers to help e...xpedite the customers due to the size and limitations of our bait and tackle shop. Thursday May 14th, we will be giving orientation to the bait and tackle shop employees on the new register system we have recently purchased and start opening for business by the following weekend so we have our feet on the ground and the kinks ironed out by the following weekend, Memorial Day Weekend. We will take a limited fish plant from Mt. Lassen before Memorial Day weekend with an extended remittance time to help us get back on our feet. Required County paperwork on social distancing and sanitation has been filled out, The required County Safe Reopening (they disclosed it last night) paperwork is done, signage will be posted by Thursday the 14th. We are being required initially to only allow 50% of the parking and camping amenities that we have here to provide for social distancing. It’s been a long and dusty road, but we are getting there.
These two beauties were caught last weekend. Come on up, the fish are biting!
Beautiful 8.25 pound lightning trout caught at Chamber’s Park today.

Attention, fishermen and fisherwomen! Last Thursday we stocked a whopping 5,000 pounds of trout, including 500 pounds of lightning trout. The fishing has been fantastic, so come up and see us soon!
Saturday September 28th is the day! Our 20th Annual "Fishin' in the Pines" Free Kids Derby! Be here bright and early at 6 am to get the kids registered. Weigh in begins at 11, and lunch begins between noon and 1:00. We stocked 5,000 pounds of trout on Thursday, and they are hungry. A fun, free family day - see you there!
