AMAZING news! Moments ago we received word that Democrats in the California Senate have WITHDRAWN Senate Bill 663!! WE have WON this important battle!!

Two new proposed California bills, Senate Bill 9 and Senate Bill 10, are geared to push housing onto cities and counties in California. If SB9 were approved, it would allow two units within each single-family lot in your areawithout a hearing or environmental reviews. And with accessory dwelling units and junior dwelling units, (called ADUs and JDUs), you could effectively have six families living on each of today’s lots. Imagine the growth! SB10 allows city councils to ...overturn voter-approved ballot initiatives that protect open space and land; essentially, it allows cities to approve 10-unit market-rate apartments almost anywhere, regardless of zoning. Our area already allows secondary dwelling units (granny flats) on residential lots if they meet certain requirements, but these proposed bills would result in excessive additional building, destruction of neighborhoods, and increase the tensions that would arise by having people living on top of one another. Allowing this to occur will result in development at a density and intensity well beyond what is currently experienced in or is intended for a city’s or county’s single-family residential zoning districts. These bills would have the potential of adversely impacting quality of life in our neighborhoods, including extreme demand upon emergency services, public infrastructure, utilities, and schools. I strongly oppose Senate Bills 9 and 10. The impacts of such proposed action are far-reaching. The bills are poorly thought out and are not the solution to providing additional and affordable housing. The costs involved would be excessive and counter- productive. Please contact your state senator and representative, as well as State Senate President Pro-Tem Toni Adkins (who actually co-sponsored SB 9) and ask them to vote NO on SB 9 and SB 10. If All Else Fails, Change the Rules In the wake of 2.1 million Californians signing a petition to see incompetent Governor Gavin Newsom recalled, an action that is likely to qualify to a ballot, Democrats are feeling the heat and changing the rules. State Senator Josh Newman, a Newsom ally and rare California politician who has been ousted by a recall, authored Senate Bill 663, which went before the Senate Elections committee today in Sacramento. If passed, the person subject... to a recall will gain access to the names and contact information of all signers in future recalls, while extending the window for petitioners to withdraw their signatures from 30 to 45 days. The impact of this bill becoming law would change the foundation of the secret recall petition, as it now exists. Those who sign a petition would have their privacy violated and could be subject to unsolicited outreach by the very official and official’s representatives who they wish to remove, as they attempt to get signers to withdraw their signatures. Imagine the Democrat outrage if a Republican ever proposed such an invasion of personal privacy. Their desperation, arrogance and hypocrisy know no limits. Editorial Boards across California should be publicly denouncing such an overtly political maneuver, particularly considering the risk it poses to law-abiding citizens who are exercising their constitutional rights. That a campaign would use this voter information to try and pressure signers to remove their signature is not far-fetched. As Newsom inches closer to seeing his recall make the ballot, former state senator Don Perata is orchestrating an organized effort that "aims to convince people who signed the petition to change their minds and rescind their signatures." Since he does not currently have a list of who to target, he hopes "Newman amends the bill so it could take effect sooner" than 2022. Gavin Newsom is the worst governor in California history. As a result, 2.1 million Californians Republicans, Democrats and Independents have signed a petition to see him recalled. And instead of fixing the broken leadership and policies that drove California to this point, Sacramento Democrats have a better idea: just change the rules to serve their interests.

YES ON RECALL! Lake County Republicans, We knew that the Democrats would do anything to protect their hold on power, but the latest news comes as a shock. ... Democrat Orange County State Senator Josh Newman has introduced a bill (SB 663) that would require the state to provide the target of a recall election with the names and addresses of every single person that signs a recall petition. Let us make this insanity perfectly clear: In California, you do not need an ID to cast a secret ballot in a Presidential election, but if you try to exercise your constitutional right to sign a recall petition, your private information will be handed over. If we have learned anything this past year, it is that Sacramento has unlimited power. Lake County saw this firsthand when the Governor personally ordered the shut down of our local businesses and shut down our Lake! Many of our small businesses have closed their doors forever, our children have been shut out of schools, and our churches had to shut their doors to their congregations. Do you trust people with this much power to treat you fairly if they know that you signed a recall petition? Under no circumstance should this bill be considered, let alone introduced. It is an attack on the constitutional rights of all Californians, a form of canceled culture on steroids. It is particularly shameful that the bill was introduced by a Senator from Orange County, and Orange County provided more signatures per capita on the Newsom Recall than anywhere else. If Josh Newman wants to put his party ahead of the very constituents that he swore to serve, perhaps he himself should be recalled. Call Senator Josh Newman NOW and demand that he rescind SB 633!
