Latest Data Shows The Real Estate Market Recovering Although the spring-summer season may not be in full swing compared to prior years, there is plenty to be hopeful for. As it turns out, all the pent up demand for housing that we touched on recently seems to be turning into actual buying activity. For starters, published data showing the 32% decline in homebuyer inquiries, but there was a turn, as towards the end of April, pending sales were up 6.2% week over week.... (Note: Similar data from Mortgage Bankers Association data was published in a Money.com article a week before the article linked above, and suggested applications may have actually risen as high as 12%.) In addition to all this: Market data also revealed new homes are still hitting the market. Within a week at the tail end of April, listings rose from 48,000 to 62,000. The Market has revealed page views of for-sale home have continued to climb. Are sellers having to accept lower prices? Not so fast! MLS found as of April 24th, there was actually a 1% year-over-year increase in average listing prices. As Barron's Hall of Fame analyst, Michael Klein, puts it, all this data suggests the U.S. residential real estate market may be past the worst in terms of COVID-19 impact, and is starting to recover.
