#ArtistMonday! Today we have @davidkuraoka . David stumbled onto ceramics while in college but here’s the kick his friends were enrolled in ceramics class when he wasn’t. He’d go over and watch his friends and when the professor was gone he’d sneak into the studio and throw, throw, throw. David was hooked to say the least and before you knew it he was enrolled in classes graduated with his BA and rose to the head of the ceramics department at San Francisco State University. His hard work and larger than life pieces won him the honor of being named a Living Treasure of Hawai’I at just the age of 35. David still continues to create work in his studio in Hawai’i. My work is abstract, and my style is simple, clean and crisp.
