As all of us that share our homes with animal companions know, it’s not always happy times. Though we love sharing the happy updates, we also feel it’s important to share the challenges. This is Pot Roast (fka Elvira). She found her love match not that long ago. While in the shelter’s care, Pot Roast received treatment for mouth issues, and was cleared for adoption. Because her new mom is so in tune with a bearded dragon’s behavior, she quickly noticed something wasn’t right..., and had her examined by a vet. Pot Roast’s prognosis is not good, unfortunately, but her new mom is dedicated to ensuring she receives all the love and care necessary so she lives her best life. And our nonprofit, PUP Laguna Beach, is dedicated to help her cover the costs of the treatment plan. Pot Roast’s mom shares: She seems very alert and she is active, she hides it very well. She’s struggling to chew her food, but I’m able to feed her this paste and she does well with it. I went ahead and started treatment for her, we can’t guarantee her outcome, but we can be hopeful due to her demeanor, she is such a fighter and is so so brave! I love her with all my heart, so keep her in your thoughts she’s such a sweet baby. See more

DO YOU SPEAK 'DOG'? As living, feeling beings like us, dogs have wants and do not wants, and although they may not speak our language, they do try to communicate with us to let us know when they are uncomfortable, so it is up to US to learn to interpret what they are saying. Biting is a dog’s way of communicating that they are threatened, uncomfortable, or angry - but usually, only after other (perhaps less obvious) behavioural cues have gone unnoticed or ignored.... Before a dog bites, they will often try to send their message in a number of smaller ways, and it is important for all of us, and especially young children, to not only treat dogs respectfully but to understand dog body language and be able to identify the warning signs of a dog who might be about to bite. It's Dog Bite Prevention Week! This week, and every week, it’s important to educate ourselves in dog welfare, care, and safety. Educational materials like the ones in these images help you understand how to behave around dogs to minimize the risk of being bitten and how to preempt bites by recognising when a dog is trying to say 'no'.

Now at 125 pounds, he’s as big (and bigger) than his people!!! As you can see, he’s a BIG love #pupdate

You remember Lexi (fka Fiona) adopted earlier this year? Well, her new family was dying to know what crazy concoction created this beauty (okay, us too!) so they had a DNA test done. If we would’ve placed bets, we would’ve lost. Go to our Instagram to see the results...or try guessing in the comments
