This service is available during the standard park operating of sunrise to sunset. The primary goal of this service is to support the City's goals of digital equity and economic development. This free Wi-Fi will assist with bridging the digital divide by providing wireless access that some citize...ns may not have access to. To access the Wi-Fi, park visitors need to select CITY-PARK-FREE-WIFI as their network on their mobile devices. Once they agree to the terms and conditions, they will be connected to the internet. As more cases of COVID-19 emerge across the country, Laguardia Translations is aware emergency and public health agencies must disseminate vital information to non-English speaking communities. We understand the need for expedient and culturally appropriate translation and interpretation services in times of a public health crisis. Laguardia Translations is here to assist you in communicating with LEP communities. We have some recommendations to help you: ... 1. Use available data to determine the list of languages that will require in-language support. 2. Write in plain language so that translations are accessible to LEPs. 3. Translate content on public websites, printed outreach materials, and other communications. 4. Assign a staff member to convey updates to ethnic media, preferably a member of the same culture. 5. Do not assign bilingual staff to complete translations as there is no assurance they can perform the task accurately and this can lead to grave miscommunications. 6. Designate a language access team lead to help your organization coordinate project needs with a translation company representative.
