Curious what goes on inside the hive? Here are some insights from our neighbor, George "The Beekeeper" Braunegg. Thanks, George!

Last Call Eighteen weeks ago, the lines at grocery stores were long and it was unknown how contagious or deadly the virus was going to be. We had the idea to quickly find a way for our neighbors to purchase healthy produce without the risk of exposure to large crowds. Also important was to create a system that would give back to those in our community who need a hand. We've been so fortunate to get to know so many of our neighbors and immensely grateful to our volunteers who ...show up week after week, John and Lisa. We couldn't have gotten this far without you. Our minds are blown each week by all of the creators we've worked with over the last few months. Not to mention the hundreds and hundreds of pounds of fresh food we've been able to give to those less fortunate. That said, as our community's COVID-19 numbers have finally leveled off and healthy and delicious foods have once again become readily available, we feel this is a good time for us to take a breather. As you know, we've had a hard time finding a permanent and visible location with volunteers to help us run the market. Additionally, our farm has been unable to deliver on weekends, making this very difficult with our day jobs to coordinate with buyers and sellers. Once we catch our breath and can find a location welcoming us with open arms, we'll be back. Stay tuned, Ladera. in the meantime, place one more order this week and stock up for the coming weeks! We'll see you again soon. -Ran & Lonna

Just got an update from our farm regarding this week's boxes: Unfortunately, smoke has rolled in heavily on our Petaluma farm and our limited water access up there has made it difficult to grow as much food as we have been able to in years past. So, we cut our weekly harvest down to one day this week and are working on a game plan on how to sustain ourselves for the months to come. One tiny miracle: we were excited to get a tiny bit of rain at the Thermal farm yesterday to ...welcome our freshly-sewn carrots into the ground. Perhaps a sign of hope on the horizon! In this week's boxes: We are including carrots from our Petaluma farm. Boxes will also include Comanche Creek's frying peppers and cherry tomatoes, Dosner Organics mint and basil, and Rainbow Ranch's tangerines! We are also including organic escarole, zucchini, Romanesco, fennel, spinach, and green kale. We are looking forward to the day when our Thermal fields open back up and the winter rains come in so we can return to growing all the food featured in our Farm Boxes. We've planned our season ahead with the contents of our Farm Boxes in mind, and we are genuinely so excited about this next chapter for our farm. In the meantime, we want to acknowledge and express our gratitude for the farmers we have been working with, and who will continue to provide food for our summer Farm Boxes. And thank YOU for supporting us with your purchases and praises.

In this week's farm boxes: Coming from our Petaluma fields, we're including Baby Mixed lettuce and carrots. This week's batch of Comanche Creek's delicious Caprese tomatoes is likely to be the last of the season! And Dosner Organics is supplying us with the basil to round out this week's Italian theme. ... We have awesome Satina potatoes from our friends over at Weiser Family Farms. We are also including organic cauliflower, red kale, cilantro, radishes, zucchini, green onion, and Napa cabbage. Please be mindful that due to excessive heat caused by the fires and scorching temperatures lately, some of your veggies may have some aesthetic blemishes. We are doing our best to navigate around this, but you may notice that some of the veggies have burnt tips or a slight ash residue that should come off with a bit of extra washing. Welcome to the true farm-to-table experience during the California wildfire season! Place your order here: https://www.laderafarmersmarket.com/s/shop

The Store is Open with a New Location This Week We have some new products available in our store this week as well as replenished stock for those that sold out last week like premium steaks, fresh banana pudding, jalapeño bread, local-roasted coffee beans, and our signature farm boxes. As usual, orders close Wednesday at noon for Thursday pickup. Also, while we loved being at Parent School, they did not love us being there and we've been forced to find a new location. In the meantime, we'll be slingin' veggies on the sidewalk in front of my house in Upper Ladera again this week. We'll get there with your support!
