We’re all here together trying to understand how to do it. I feel like this idea applies to 2020 as much as it does to music, making books, or any projects we take on. It’s something @juanwautersofficial shared with @spencertweedy in @mirrorsoundbook that rings true. Juan Wauters cozies up to risk kind of naturally. That’s him in the act in the third picture. The first two images are Suzanne Ciani @sevave making beautiful calm out of chaos. These come from (some) of my favorite image sets by @danieltopete in the book. #Grammy Nominated today with Jeff Tweedy @wilco for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package on Ode To Joy. This was a very special project for me driven by the creative collaboration of Jeff, the entire Wilco family, the people who made the package and hand assembled each moving component. Thank you to the nomination committee. In this time we could use art that sparks joy more than ever. It’s important to support art that one can touchit’s a way to connect to that joy.

@danieltopete and I convene to celebrate @mirrorsoundbook in real life. @spencertweedy and Daniel have been the most amazing, transformative collaborators I could ever imagine working with. The kind who make your own work incalculably stronger. Special thanks to the 27 incredible musicians who openly shared their process and spaces with us, Carrie Brownstein @carrie_rachel for the brilliant foreword, our publisher @prestel_uk and extra special thanks to our visionary editor @laduelala and not last @juliemuncy who makes everything possible. @prestel_usa @prestelverlag

Known as The One Man Beatle. Prodigy, multi-instrumentalist, California’s McCartney doesn’t fully describe the scope, sensitivity and the genius of Emitt Rhodes. If you’ve heard The Royal Tenenbaums soundtrack, track 7 Lullabye, you’ve heard a sliver of his legacy. A deep cult figure with a complicated story, Rhodes passed July 19 at age 70. That being one of many reasons that we felt humbled, excited and honored to have him in our book Mirror Sound. @spencertweedy and @danieltopete had a special visit with him earlier this year and Emitt’s contribution to the book were immeasurable. These outtakes from that day are pretty special.

21 years ago I got to start work for a band called @wilco on an album called Summerteeth. It was the first photo session that I traveled for, the first band I got to collaborate with, and thankfully- the collaboration continues to this day. Summerteeth is being released in a special edition boxed set with a foil wrapped cover, 24 previously unreleased outtakes and demos, and an essay that sheds new light on the story behind the album. It’s strange being old enough to design for a re-release of a record I worked on that long agobut I’m grateful that I got to work on both versions, and for all of the adventures in between. That photo in my hand by Justine Parsons.
