How many of you trained at "Rancho"?
It has been a very difficult year for our students, to say the least. At one point, students were unsure of whether they were going to graduate on time with cl...inical hours being cut due to the pandemic and restrictions to hospital access. With the guidance and leadership of Dr. Mildred Gonzalez as Dean and Program Director, the students were able to continue their clinical rotations and graduate on time. Our students get the best training in the world, these students in particular are being forged during a global pandemic. They will be INCREDIBLE! I would like to ask you, again, for your support in helping the Alumni Association to maintain our scholarships and awards for these students. You can do that by donation or by signing up for a yearly alumni membership ($20/year). If your membership has expired since last year, please consider renewing your membership! For donations - https://www.lacsonalumni.org/donations For memberships - https://www.lacsonalumni.org/plans-pricing And while you're there at the website, go to the Mentor's page. We'll be adding this semester's cycle of peer Mentors. https://www.lacsonalumni.org/impact
Did you do part of your clinicals at Los Amigos? Then you know there's more to it than PT.

Repost of this "County A/C" from 1954! Hope everyone is staying cool and safe during the current heat wave.
Terre Stewart Gagnon, 1980-1. Just retired last month. ICU/CCU/ED at Providence St Joes in Burbank, Universal Studios & retired from the ED @ Kootenai Health ED in Coeur d Alene Idaho. An ED nurse through & through!
Doris Schjeldeurp, Class of 1980-1. Who knew where this journey would take me. From Red Blanket Room to Little Co of Mary Ortho to Open Heart Harbor UCLA to Trauma ICU @ Holy Cross. Back injury sidelined me from bedside. Went on to work as Legal Nurse Consultant for 20 years until retirement. It wasn’t what I planned but what an adventure it has been.
Jim Carey - My picture from 86-II. Great beginning to a new profession at age 32 after years as a drummer and singer in Chicago and LA. About 15 years ICU and 19 years CRNA, most of it at LACUSC (22years) and Keck (7). Happily retired April 2020 at 68.
Here is my graduation photo, Merilee Doggett 1973 (now Hobby). Amazing experiences through training and working at the County! I have lived here in Australia for 40 years and at the age of 67, am still working 2-3 days a week, not because I have to but because I love it!
Alumna Merilee Doggett Hobby asks: "I graduated in February 1973. One fond memory is of the dorm. Does anyone have any photos of the dorm and a date of when it was built. Is it still standing?" Alas, as some of you may know, Muir Hall, built in 1962, was damaged in the 1994 earthquake and torn down; the Diagnostic and Clinic Tower and parking lot currently stand in its place. If you have any photos of the dorm or other parts of Muir Hall you would like to share, won't you post them in comments here below? It would be interesting for many of us to see what it was like!
If you would like your graduation or pinning picture posted in this album, please send it in a message to the page with the caption you would like. Isn't it lovely to see everyone at the start of their nursing careers!
Cheryl Olsen, 1974-1. I was 20, can you believe they let us practice that young? Married my beloved in December of 1974 and practiced in California, Virginia, and Panama.
Karen Anderson Gines 87-1
John T. Manion Class of 87-II, class president, recipient of Fellowship to attend the 14th International Cancer Congress in Budapest, Hungary
