Captain Levasseur (aka Sharky) was a well-respected member of the LACoFD family who faithfully served our Department and Los Angeles County residents with great courage, skill, and dedication for over 30 years. Hard-working and a mentor and friend to many, Captain Levasseur lived our core values each and every day. Please keep the Levasseur family, especially his daughter Kaylie, in your thoughts and prayers during this extraordinarily difficult time. Captain Levasseur’s legacy of caring service to others before self will continue to live in each one of us. He is very much missed by all of us and we will never forget him. SuperScoopers Have Arrived for the 2020 Fire Season! The SuperScoopers arrived from Quebec this afternoon. Quebec 1 and 2 will be placed in-service on Tuesda...y, September 1, 2020. This is the 27th year the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) has leased a pair of CL-415 SuperScoopers from the Government of Quebec. On Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., County of Los Angeles Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger and LACoFD Fire Chief Daryl L. Osby, along with Philippe P. Huneault, Government of Quebec Delegate, will host the annual media day to highlight the arrival of the CL-415 SuperScoopers for the 2020 fire season. LACoFD Resources Deployed to #CZUAugustLightningComplex Fire LACoFD Resources Deployed to #CZUAugustLightningComplex Fire The LACoFD has deployed multiple... engine strike teams to assist with firefighting efforts as part of the #CZUAugustLightningComplex Fire in the Scotts Valley area. Each strike team has five engines and one battalion chief; in total we have 23 engines and 101 personnel deployed to assist with firefighting operations. Per @calfire, as of August 22, 2020, the #LNULightningComplex and #SCULightningComplex incidents are now the 2nd and 3rd (respectively) largest fires in California history. With dry conditions forecasted across California, along with the potential for lightning strikes, the LACoFD encourages residents to be prepared for wildfires.
