LA County Fair

Amid the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic and its bearing on public events, we announce today that we are planning a smaller, safer celebration of this year's annual spree of family, tradition, culture and community. We are heartbroken that we cannot hold the LA County Fair as we all know and love it -- It would be a public health and financial risk for us to do so. However, we do hope to have some celebration of the Fair this Fall, which we will announce at a later date. It may be a much smaller version, but it will be big in spirit.

This year, Fairplex received 1st Place in the Community Outreach category at the Western Fairs Association annual Achievement Awards. The Community Outreach aw...ard was earned for our work in 2020 with the food pantries and our COVID-19 outreach. WFA recognized Fairplex's ability to pivot immediately from an events center to a site for community benefit. Last year, with our partner Sowing Seeds For Life food bank, we distributed more than 1.6 million pounds of food to families and individuals in need. The County of Los Angeles coronavirus test site served more than 60,000 and the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel & Conference Center offered more than 65,000 total rooms to individuals in need of medical quarantining. 2020 may have looked different, but we continue to be a beacon in our community.

Like many others, this global crisis has made it impossible for us to continue with our normal operations. For the safety and well-being of our guests, vendors and staff, we announce today that we are canceling the 2020 LA County Fair, following the guidelin...es of state and county public health officials who are advising against large public gatherings for the remainder of the year. For nearly 100 years, the LA County Fair has been the premier end-of-summer experience. That will never change. We will be back to helping you make memories. Learning online is challenging. So is teaching online especially if you are teaching an automotive course.
