The UPCT is more than just training. The support from union staff who fight for every single worker in the program fuels the program’s success, said Dr. Virginia Parks of UCI School of Social Ecology. The UPCT program offers the nation an agenda of change that leverages the public sector as a life-long mobility path for workers of color. It’s a model that should be replicated across the country. We're proud to support #AB701! Championed by Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego), AB 701 will protect frontline warehouse workers by requiring employers, like Amazon and Walmart, to disclose quotas and work speed standards to workers and state enforcement agencies. Access to water is a human right. Yet hundreds of thousands of people cannot afford their water bills in California. California lawmakers need to act NOW to keep the water flowing!
Dr. King spent his life fighting against racism and economic inequality, both of which still plague our nation. We can never have justice in this country when so many of our brothers and sisters are systematically discriminated against. Unions need to be on the front lines to fight white supremacy and all the horrific outcomes it creates. #MLKDay

"To help folks stand on their own two feet, the government can’t just make people work. It has to make work pay. The cost of low wages is too high for the country’s working families. And it’s too high for Uncle Sam as well."
Today is the AFL-CIO National Day of Action for the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act. Call your senators and tell them to support working people by voting YES on the #PROAct! The PRO Act is the most significant worker empowerment legislation since the Great Depression. And it’s also a civil rights and economic stimulus bill. If we can get this passed, working people will thrive for generations to come.
Workers and communities across Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Seattle are united in calling out Kroger’s greed and saying no to closing stores during a pandemic. #ShameOnKrogerLA Sign the petition: bit.ly/ShameOnKrogerLA
This is a people-powered victoryall across the country, progressive organizations engaged voters and fought to protect our democracy. Now the real work begins. Our communities must keep up the momentum to hold the new administration accountable and #DefendEachOther. See you in the streets!
Rain or shine , join us this Saturday to #DefendDemocracy and #DefendEachOther. No matter the outcome of this election, we will march for our future and a democracy where all of our voices are heard and our votes counted. RSVP: https://www.facebook.com/events/686077919010123
Prop 22 won because Uber, Lyft, and other gig companies spent over $205 million making it the most expensive ballot measure in history. These companies inundated drivers and customers with in-app propaganda. They forced people to click through messaging about Prop 22 in order to use their apps. Their win resulted in a $13 billion investment on Wall Street, which Uber and Lyft celebrated while their workers continue to struggle to make ends meet during a pandemic.... This fight isn't over. We will continue to fight alongside gig workers for basic labor rights and protections. #SickOfGigGreed
For democracy to work for all of us, every eligible voter must have our voices heard and our votes counted. Join us on Saturday to #DefendDemocracy and #DefendEachOther. Americans turned out in record numbers to vote, despite the pandemic and deliberate barriers from day-long lines to eliminated drop boxes. We did not let anything get in the way of voting and we will not let anything get in the way of our votes being counted. Already, Trump is trying to bully and cheat his way out of this loss by threatening to file lawsuits against Pennsylvania and Michigan to stop counting votes. We #DemandDemocracy, and we will #DefendEachOther and our votes. Join us this Saturday, November 7th! https://actionnetwork.org//united-we-rise-november-7-unid/
Every eligible voter should have their voice heard and their vote counted. When we take the time to count and verify every ballot, it’s a sign that our democracy is working. #CountEveryVote #DemandDemocracy #DefendEachOther
Every eligible voter should have their voice heard & their vote counted. It's going to take longer to count the votes and verify winners in this year’s election - and that’s okay. We need to be patient so election officials can take the time to make sure we #CountEveryVote. And remember, if you're in line to vote when the polls close at 8 p.m., stay in line! You're still able to cast your vote!

Today is Election Day, so if you haven't yet, it's time to cast those votes to stop corporate greed and invest in a strong and inclusive future! Voting YES on prop 15 will reclaim $12B for schools & critical local services by closing the tax loophole that only benefits the wealthy. Voting NO on Prop 22 will make gig corporations pay fair wages & provide basic protections all workers deserve. Let's do this!
