3-D SPACE

Today is actor Christopher Walken's 78th birthday. He started his career in the 1950s as a child actor, and one of his early roles (credited as Ronnie Walken) was in the 1958 short film "The Boy Who Saw Through" by experimental filmmaker Mary Ellen Bute. In the film, he plays the title character, Ernie, a boy who seemingly has the ability to see through solid walls, much to the consternation of his family. While "The Boy Who Saw Through" is not a 3-D movie, it does contain a... stereoscopic "sighting" - the story is set at the turn of the century, and the opening shot features young Ernie holding a Holmes stereoscope. The viewer shows up again in a later scene, when Ernie's father looks at a stereograph. Happy Bir3Day Christopher Walken!

Sadly, video distributor Twilight Time has announced that they are ceasing operations June 1st. Through the years, they had released a number of Golden Age Columbia 3-D movies on blu-ray. They still have copies of Inferno (1953) in stock. It's one of the best 3-D movies of the 50s, and one of my favorites. It's your last chance to get it, and reduced to sell as they close their company.
