This is truly a very special #teachertuesday, as we celebrate a member of our La Reina family who recently became an American citizen. Congratulations to Vy Vy..., our kind, talented, remarkable sous chef whose creativity and love have nourished La Reina students, faculty and staff over the past 3 years. Originally from Vietnam, Vy immigrated to the United States, with her son and her daughter. She shared, it took so much to get us where we are; we are grateful for the support of the La Reina community. We are so happy for Vy and love that she has accomplished so much, said Chef Cameron, Cafeteria Manager. #americancitizen #newcitizen #citizenship #usa See more

It’s #teachertuesday and we want to re-share a beautiful post by our very own religion teacher, Mrs. Nichols, and her new beautiful family attending Baby August...ine’s first Easter Mass at Padre Serra parish celebrating our risen Lord with Bishop Robert Barron, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles presiding. @bishopbarron Her message epitomizes the message of the season, #hope "Happy Easter everyone! Christ is risen Alleluia! Last year at this time we were in lockdown, watching Bishop Barron’s online Mass, and Augustine was 4 months old, growing in the womb. This Easter Sunday we were celebrating Mass outdoors with Bishop Barron presiding and Augustine is 8 months old, sitting up while chewing on his St. Nicholas doll. Praying that in this Easter season you feel the full joy of knowing Christ's love and promise for each of you. How wonderful to know that we have such a loving God to undergo the pains of humanity so to redeem us! "

Let’s kick off the week with another amazing #Regent in the STEM field! Today’s #Alummonday belongs to Anna Burrows-Goodheart, La Reina class of 2012. ... Anna graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. She has built experience over the years as a laboratory analyst with a demonstrated history of working in the medical device industry. Anna runs the pharmacology labs at a private health sciences university and is also a veterinary technician. She has published two papers in the International Journal of Pharmaceutical Compounding (2019) and one recently in PLoS One (The Public Library of Science). She attributes her love of science to Ms. Robinson, whose AP Bio class inspired her to pursue a career in the biological sciences, and to La Reina High School, which encourages women to explore all disciplines, including science, technology, arts, engineering, and mathematics, (STEAM), and not to shy away from the more difficult disciplines. She is particularly grateful to Ms. Robinson and to the chemistry teacher (Mrs. Conrad) for all they did, as well as to La Reina. Thank you Anna, we are incredibly proud of you! #womeninstem #herfutureourfocus #lareinaleads #lareinagirl .

Welcome to #Alummonday Today’s #Alum spotlight is on Evelina Godecki ‘15 Evelina recently graduated from USC in 2019 with a Public Policy Major, Social Innovation Emphasis, and Business Minor.... Currently, she is a Technology Consultant at OnPrem Solution Partners working with Media & Entertainment companies in the Los Angeles Area. I think the one thing I will be forever grateful for about my La Reina experience was having the space and support to practice being a strong, bold, smart woman. In the technology space, I tend to find myself sometimes the only woman in a meeting but I’ve never been timid to speak up, discuss, and collaborate with whoever I find myself working alongside. #Lareinagirl #goregents #womeninstem

Welcome to #Alummonday Today’s spotlight is on Karagan Smith , Class of 2016 Currently, Karagan is pursuing a Fulbright Pre-Doctoral Research Scholarship in Alicante, Spain at the Universitat d' Alicant while studying Aleppo pine forest mortality concerning extreme drought conditions, climate change, and high wildfire frequency. In May of 2020, Karagan graduated from Pepperdine University with a B.S in Biology with honors. ... She says In my La Reina AP Environmental Science class, I first learned of our warming climate and endangered species and how scientists were critical to creating solutions. My La Reina education, teachers, and mentors instilled so much confidence in me and taught me that I could pursue any field, especially those that are typically male-dominated. La Reina has absolutely made me a better person and scientist, and I don't think I would have had the confidence to pursue something like a Fulbright without it. #herfutureourfocus #goregents #womeninstem #fullbrightscholarship #femalescientistsrule

We were excited to host our annual Back-to-School night on September 9th. This event, though different from our traditional "back to school evening" was a wonde...rful opportunity for parents to meet their daughter's teachers and learn of current plans. Presentations were held outdoors in a socially distanced environment; parents were grouped by grade-level cohorts to travel and stay together for the evening. A La Reina staff member escorted each cohort to mini-presentations.
