What a beautiful tribute thank you Jini Shim for celebrating Dad's life in this years seminar. For several years Dad was honored to be a guest speaker and always looked forward to being a part of the NKS event and truly enjoyed ringing the Korean Friendship Bell but more than anything he enjoyed the friendships that he made each year with all of you. Thank you so much Jini, Sung & Mary for making Dad feel so very special. I cannot express just how grateful I am to all of you for bringing him so much joy and happiness through the years and thank you with all my heart for this video as I will forever cherish it.
Dad was an honored guest for a dinner reception for National Foundation Day.
On Saturday July 27th our members assisted the Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 56 in remembering the end of the Korean War which ended 66 years ago. The Unites States had 54,246 deceased; 103,284 wounded; 8,177 Missing in Action; and 4,714 Prisoners of War. 19 of those killed called Santa Paula home and 24 others were from Ventura County. Thank you to the US & Korea Alliance Association, Korean Veterans Assoc. Western Region and all those who attended so that the Korean War will not become "The Forgotten War", as it is often referred to.
Another meaningful ceremony to commemorate the 66th Anniversary of the ending of the Korean War. Thank you to the many organizations for all of your support and to family and friends for honoring your loved ones.
Some photos from the 69th Anniversary of the Korean War Commemoration this past week.
One busy week for Dad in commemoration of the 69th Anniversary of the Korean War. Not only was he recognized for his service he was invited as a guest speaker at these 4 events. June 22, 2019 Korean American Federation of So. Bay in Gardena. On June 23, 2019 at the Grace Korean Church in Fullerton, CA and was once again invited by the Consul General of Republic of Korea LA Ambassador Wan-Joong Kim and his wife at their home on June 25th and then today to end his week at the... Korean Bell of Friendship in San Pedro. We cannot say enough just how grateful we are for all that you do. Even after 69 years the Korean people and their organizations are so appreciative and they continue to remember and honor the efforts and sacrifice of an entire generation of Koreans & Americans who fought together to preserve the values of self determination, freedom and democracy. As a proud daughter of a Korean War Veteran I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for making this 88 year old feel so very special and most of all for.always remembering. See more

A Memorial...doesn’t just get erected by the City. People, in this case my #KoreanWar #Veterans #Grandpas, lobby their city government for permission, then work tirelessly to raise independent funds to build it. It took numerous years, led by KWVA Chapter #56 Ventura County Commander David Lopezwho also worked six years to get the KWV Memorial Highway named and signs made. Moreover, since 1995 he still hand-writes and mails out newsletters to his members on a quarterly basi...s. Because it means something...Their memory of war. Their fallen brothers in arms. And the reminder that FREEDOM IS NOT FREE. And me. I’m just hoping to remind US. #727 www.remember727.org
