Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good! Canadian resident Jason Nutini only needed the desert bighorn species in order to complete his sheep slam. That opportunity dropped in his lap last year at the 1 more for 4 drawing at the Wild Sheep Foundations annual banquet when his name was pulled from the tumbler. This February Jason completed that life long dream, taking this giant ram on his hunt in Sonora, Mexico. Couldn’t of happened to a more deserving guy. Congrats from everyone at KUIU on your success.

11 year old Kanon Virotsko was lucky enough to draw a premium deer tag in New Mexico last year. Teamed up with Ryan Nogosek of A3 and his dad David, it didn’t take long before they turned up this giant 5x8 buck. With a steady rest and a solid trigger pull, Kanon executed a perfect shot sequence on this giant 31 wide once-in-lifetime buck, dropping him in his tracks. His story is featured on the cover of Huntin Fool February 2021 issue.

Behind the scenes of any successful conservation project is usually years of effort put forth by people you rarely get to see. We hope to be able to highlight a few of them. Last week, Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks successfully translocated and released the first new Bighorn Sheep herd in Montana in over a Decade. We would like to congratulate them on the success of the project. This transplant saw 50 Rocky Mountain Bighorns (45 ewes-5 rams) captured from the Missouri Breaks and moved to the Little Belt Mountains over a 2 day period. Bighorns disappeared from the Belts around 1900 and for the first time in 120 years, lambs will be wild born in ...this great habitat. We would like to thank Montana FWP and the Region 4 Staff for including KUIU in this great project. We are proud to be both a financial donor and thrilled to volunteer manpower on the capture. Shoutout to the other donors- (Wild Sheep Foundation, Montana Wild sheep, Kenetrek, Montana Bowhunters Assn, and Great Falls SCI.)
