Updated 5:19am-- 11-04-20 --- Americans don't know yet who will be in the White House next year. President Trump has won several key battleground states including Ohio, Florida and Texas, chipping away at Joe Biden's electoral college lead. But the former vice president says he remains optimistic about the outcome. Biden addressed a drive-in rally in Delaware and stressed that the election won't be over until all ballots have been counted. Trump is also sounding upbeat, tweeting overnight that he is "up BIG." He spoke from the White House later and accused his opponents of trying to steal the election.

Updated 5:07pm-- 11-03-20-- On the morning of 10/30/20, Officers responded to the 1600 block of West Central Avenue in regards to a female who had been strangled and attacked with a firearm. The Victim’s ex-boyfriend, 50 year old Billie Marable, forced the Victim to drive her vehicle from a parking lot in the 100 block of North V Street at gunpoint. The Victim drove to Central Avenue where she attempted to escape by pulling her vehicle over and fight the suspect for the firea...rm. Passing citizens stopped to help the Victim who was able to take the firearm away. The suspect then fled the area in the Victim’s vehicle. The vehicle was found a short time later abandoned in a cabbage field on San Pasqual Road. An extensive search for the suspect was conducted with assistance from the California Highway Patrol and Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department but he was not located. On 11/03/20, Lompoc Police Department's Investigation Bureau was conducting surveillance when they contacted and arrested Billie Marable for his warrant regarding this investigation at a hotel parking lot in the 1200 block of North H Street. Updated 9:46pm-- 11-02-20-- Southbound Highway 101 at Donovan Road in Santa Maria was closed to traffic this evening.. The Santa Maria Police Department said its officers were assisting the California Highway Patrol with a shooting investigation. Officers say one person was shot in the arm, and three to four cars were shot by the suspect. The CHP arrested a female with a handgun, and say they're searching for bullets and shell casings. Caltrans issued a SIG Alert to warn drivers, saying the closure was the result of "police activity in the area." One lane of traffic was back open as of 945 this evening.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to a brush fire near Los Olivos that is threatening at least one structure.. The fire started this afternoon.. The so-called Ballard Fire is *** approx 15-20 acres... Fire crews said Ballard Canyon Road near Tapadero Road will be closed to public access. two helicopters and two fixed-wing tankers are also responding to the fire. It was reported that fire engines are also on their way to the fire to protect nearby structures.

Updated 8:10am-- 10-31-20-- Sir Sean Connery is dead at age 90. The BBC is reporting the Scottish actor's death today. Connery portrayed James Bond in seven movies in the spy thriller series. He played roles in The Hunt For Red October, Indiana Jones and many more. During his career, Connery won an Oscar in 1988 as best supporting actor in The Untouchables, two Baftas and three Golden Globes. The Queen of England knighted Connery in the year 2000.

Updated 11:57am-- 10-29-20--- The Santa Maria Police Department is investigating several liquor store armed robberies which occurred over a two-month period. SMPD is seeking assistance identifying the suspect who is believed to be armed and dangerous. The suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion, possibly in his mid to late 30’s, medium build, armed with a handgun. On multiple occasions, the suspect entered the liquor stores and pointed a handgun at the cle...rk, demanding money. The suspect was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of money during the robberies. On 10-28-20 the suspect is believed to have robbed three businesses throughout the city in a short period of time. SMPD Detectives continue to investigate the incidents and are asking the public not to approach or contact the suspect if seen, but instead contact SMPD by calling 911 in case of an emergency. Updated 5:18am--- 10-29-20--An unarmed Minuteman III Intercontinental ballistic missile lifted off from Vandenberg Air Force Base at 12:27 am today. The launch had been scheduled for yesterday but was delayed due to adverse weather conditions at the target area downrange. Air Force Global Strike Command says the launch is a test to determine the weapon system's effectiveness, readiness, and accuracy. The most recent Minuteman III launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base was in the beginning of September.

Updated 10:26am-- 10-27-20-- Justice Amy Coney Barrett begins her new job today. She was sworn in as newest member of the Supreme Court last night at the White House soon after the Senate confirmed her. A private ceremony was held today where Chief Justice John Roberts administered the Judicial Oath to Barrett. She's the third justice appointed by President Trump to ultimately be confirmed to serve on the high court. Barrett replaces the late liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Updated 10:21am-- 10-27-20- California's restaurant industry is asking for refunds. Restaurants closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic filed government claims to recover more than 100-million in fees for liquor, health permits and tourism charges that they say were assessed even though they were shut down or only partially operating under the state's coronavirus health orders. Restaurant owners say it's not fair they're being charged for permits they can't use. Right now, counties with the highest COVID-19 infection rates are limited to outdoor dining only.

Updated 10:19am-- 10-27-20- Fire officials are calling in special forces to help battle two wind driven wildfires in Orange County. The special force is called Team Six and is comprised of highly trained U.S. Navy personnel. The Blue Ridge Fire is out of control, raging over eight-thousand acres. It's burning over the Gypsum Canyon ridge, all the way down to the canyon floor. One home is damaged so far. The Silverado Fire has burned over 11-thousand acres with only five-percent containment.
