#DEA 12 in custody so far from DEA raids in Hoopa and Eureka Lt. George Cavinta with the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office confirms that the Humboldt County Drug... Task Force, Eureka POP and the U.S. Marshall's Office are assisting the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration today in Hoopa and Eureka. They are helping in various federal indictments, serving arrest warrants and addressing probation violations. The team split into two groups, one in Hoopa and the other in Eureka. The Hoopa team began at 6 a.m. According to Lt. Cavinta, that team is on their third raid. The first was a federal search warrant served at mile marker 306 on Highway 96. The team then served an arrest warrant at the travel trailer behind Burger Barn. They are now on their third location conducting a probation search four miles up Bald Hills Road. This morning the Eureka team served a warrant on the 1500 block of Wood St. Between the two locations, 12 are confirmed in custody. All of today's warrants are related to narcotic sales, specifically methamphetamine and heroin. This is part of a year and a half federal investigation into drug trafficking operations on the North Coast. Lt. Cavinta says more details will follow, hopefully later this afternoon. The raids are expected to continue throughout the day.
