More Genre Roundup!! Read about some of our new additions (and current favorites) in electronica: Ayane Yamazaki Yobikakerarete Ayane's latest EP release sounds like a modern take on the city pop genre. It has more toned down aspects of electronic music, making it sound like lounge music, lofi, or chill funk-pop... Kelly Lee Owens- Inner Song An album with electronic, techno and dream pop vibes, Kelly Lee Owens’s beautiful dream-like vocals sings expressively lyrics that are sensual, existential, and just about everything in between! Sneaks- Happy Birthday Happy Birthday by Sneaks may start off as sounding odd, but once you get a sense of the artist through their (mostly) spoken words, you begin to appreciate more aspects of the songs. This unique style of music suits Sneak’s voice and makes her sound like an electro rockstar. Molchat Doma- Monument This album is full of wonderful, ear-catching songs. Picture 80s-esque Russian synth music with the deep, mysterious-like voice of a male vocalist - this whole album is super groovy. Aluna- Renaissance This album is rich and full of different genres, with lyrics covering love, independence, and self-discovery. Most of the songs have a very dance/electric feel, but there are some more laidback songs with relaxing bass and vocals. Xyla- Ways A beautiful mix of vocals, percussion, electronic synthesizers, jazzy instruments, and ambient sounds that creates very sophisticated multi-genre music. This album contains tracks that are great to jam to, relax with, and tracks to leave you in awe :O. Dorian Electra--My Agenda I like this album because the lyrics can be hilarious, but the actual instrumental music is really good as well, sort of 100 Gecs, party-esque I think.

This week’s New Music Friday is Breaking and Entering by Molly Joyce! Breaking and Entering could be described as ambient, experimental, and classical, but has scope far beyond any one genre. Molly Joyce is a composer and artist who not only has a disability, but uses it as a creative force to write music. She has a disabled left hand as a result of a car accident when she was a child. She plays an electric vintage toy organ bought off of Ebay. This toy organ is unique in its... structure with keys on the right and buttons on the left that are a perfect fit for her body. Breaking and Entering lyrically includes many disability themes, and prominent disability metaphors such as you brought a world to me/that was not built for me/and was not formed for me/yet unexplored in me. The album is peaceful, chaotic, haunting, and serene. If you are interested in learning more about disability in music, listening to ambient or just simply great music we recommend this album!
